Anybody remember this skit? I saw it three or four times. It featured three people who were famous for not speaking well – Frankenstein (played by Phil Hartman), Tonto (played by either Jon Lovitz or Kevin Nealon), and … who? For the life of me, I can’t remember the third character in the skit, and it’s driving me crazy.
One particular version of the skit that I remember had the three characters singing a Christmas carol (Silent Night, I think).

Whatever happened to Kevin Nealon? He was on SNL for a long time and was quite funny. Usually those guys at least do AT&T 1-800 commercials. Has he done anything since leaving the show?

Did Phil Hartman do “Unfrozen Caveman Lawyer”? And who played the evil Frankenstein? It’s been awhile since I’ve seen those skits…

They also did probably the best version of The Little Drummer Boy I ever heard. By “best”, of course, I mean shortest.
the funniest thing about the Drummer Boy sketch is Hartman’s drum. If you watch, he’s just mashing the sticks into the thing, and it breaks! He played it so f’ing well.
And it’s in that one, or the other one they did (drawing a blank here) where somebody is obviously stifling a laugh.
sigh. this near-perfect recall of mine is a gift certainly due to the constant beer-pickling of my brain…

They once did a hilarious variation on the Tarzan, Tonto, and Frankenstein thing after Jon Lovitz had left: a song sung by Tarzan, Chris Farley, and Frankenstein. Chris Farley essentially played himself.
I remember another Frankenstein, Tarzan and Tonto sketch where they pore intently over the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue. Tarzan said that Jane looked that good before Boy.
I always enjoyed the one where they were on the talk show discussing current events and Phil Hartman (Frankenstein) flubs a line or something and gets himself, Nora Dunn and Nealon and Lovitz tickled. The other two guys compose themsleves but Hartman and Dunn can’t seem to get it under control. Frankenstein gets up and just destroys the set, laughing while he is trying to speak/grunt like Frankenstein!! It’s great!

In one of them, Frankenstein’s neck bolt starts to fall off. You can see the latex peeling away and it starts slipping. i think he knew what was happening and was resisting the urge to either laugh about it or fix it. Don’t remember it better than that though.
I remember that talk show sketch. Nora Dunn asks them all about the Global IMF Treaty or some thing like that. Tarzan answers, “Me think treaty good. Make world safer for Jane and Boy.” Tonto answers, “Me no trust treaty, kemosabe.” And it’s obvious that Frankenstein is supposed to get a blank look and pause for a second before answering “Fire baaaad,” but Phil Hartman just suddenly realizes how ridiculous this all is and cracks up.
