Yup. Sausage towns. These are places where single men outnumber single women by a very noticeable amount. They’re not necessarily communities dominated by gay men; they’re just places where there aren’t many women.
Where are these places? I want to know, so I can avoid 'em in the future, should I have to leave Kansas City. I know about San Jose, with its tech-driven economy. What about other places where guys sit around and wonder “where all the women be at?”
I opened this thread thinking that the Milwaukee Brewer’s Sausage Races would definitely qualify us as a sausage town. Then I read the OP.
Milwaukee would not qualify as a “sausage town” based on the OP definition. The 2000 census shows 450,574 males and 489,590 females in Milwaukee county.
Wouldn’t it be more useful still to know in which towns the number of women far outweighs the number of men? Should improve your chances a lot, right? Dunno what these towns should be called, though.
Not true. According to US Census Bureau data for 1999, the ratio of men to women in Alaska is 52% men, 48% women. Not an overwhelming difference, and you would never notice it on the street.
Thanks for saving me the trouble. There are other towns up here where the ratios are skewed more dramatically. However, please see my sig before thinking of moving up here.
