I don’t think we are, no. There’s a difference between thoughtful speculation and just coming up with crazy stuff.
Most of us aren’t spitballing because it’s a breaking new thread.
I have a buddy whose mother-in-law died here in the states (SoCal) and wanted to be buried at home in Mexico, but the flights from LA were really expensive, so he drove her body to Tijuana and flew from there to wherever she was from.
That sounds like a goofy road comedy film waiting to be made.
IIRC A pacemaker runs until the battery runs down. Regardless if the person is alive? A signal is produced?
Why the Hell is stuff like this being released to the press?
Good question. I want to know that the case has been resolved, for better or worse. I don’t need to know the methods that law enforcement is using.
Could be a ruse
There’s some reporting the Family has looked into hiring a group that searches for graves/bodies in the desert in Mexico.
I know we don’t want believe she’s dead. I’m sure the family is devastated to reach out to these people.
But knowing would be so much better. IMHO
I agree. The doctor told us to put my mom’s pacemaker monitor in her bedroom. The signal is weak and doesn’t reach far.
Alright, this is some scary shit from just after midnight, picked up on a couple of our home security cameras.
That lurking figure was obviously up to no good.
Before we figured out that it was me, Mrs. J. and I were pretty spooked.
The guy wasn’t scared off by your dog? It could take an electric fence to keep that one away from your house. Some people stop at nothing but not that guy.
It should’ve been a clue to the “intruder”‘s identity that the dog “didn’t bark in the nighttime” (recalling a classic Sherlock Holmes’ story).
I suppose it depends on your interpretation of “fairly easy”. It takes some detailed planning on the homeowner’s part, but was simpler and quicker than remodeling the kitchen. Finding contractors, welders, etc. who can install bars and security gates is a little harder, but they’re out there.
Yes, most of the fun electronic gizmos passed off as “security” at Best Buy are little more than talismans, which we hope the bad guys will see and decide to self-correct. Maybe it’ll work, but not on the determined and truly violent.
Gotta say, I’m more worried about being trapped in a fire or earthquake than about bring attacked by an intruder.
Except for, you know, all the surveillance and paramilitary (border patrol agents) along the border.
Or, in other words, it seems like a terrible plan to me. Much better to stay within the contiguous 48 states.
I live along the border. I’ll admit that I don’t drive into Mexico, just bike (because that’s how close I live), but border control getting into Mexico is kind of a nothing-burger here. I have never been asked to present ID entering Mexico. It’s getting back into the US that requires a passport or passport card (I recently got a passport card so I could stop having to bike with my full passport in my pocket).
If she was taken into Mexico, it doesn’t seem like it would be too difficult if you know the back country, if, I’m saying.
It is all subjective. I can sit for days with my theories, reading news reports and hearing newscasts. Anything I think is colored by my fears and anxieties. And my silly figuring.
I think the actual live news on this will slow down after this coming week.
It will go into cold case status. Until there’s something new that happens.
Usually it’s finding a body. Or an actual suspect is located.
CNN deep diving into this nightly is just repeats. A semi-expert who has no personal knowledge or connection goes on and on saying the same old thing.
It’s not actually breaking news anymore, no matter what is emblazoned across the TV screen.
I believe we need a follow along, theoretical type thread on this subject.
Or re-tag this one as non-breaking news.
I agree this case is just about frozen for everyone actually involved. It’s purely the media milking it that’s keeping up any appearance of simmering.
Anyone is free to start that thread, and to link to it here.
The case is going cold and so is this thread.
I expect a dramatic development will eventually happen and there will be more discussion.
My biggest question has always been, why this specific victim?
Savannah Guthrie always seemed well liked and personable. She’s never been an openly political figure. The good newscasters are there to cover news and not become part of the story.
Maybe it is only about the money. Savannah doesn’t seem like someone who could transfer several million in bitcoin tomorrow.
Not knowing has to be agonizing for the family. I hope something breaks in this case soon.
