Save the Battlestar Galactica from shame!

Does anyone remember Battlestar Galactica? It was originally aired in 1978 and 1979. A piss poor spin off called Galactica: 1980 aired in 1980. BSG was a good sci-fi show for its time. I’ve heard people put it down for it having obviously faked effects. (Most of these people swear by the effects in Star Trek: The Original Show!)
Well, for those of you who remember the show and actually enjoyed it, did you know there are two producers fighting to resurrect the show? One of the production companies is headed by Glen A. Larson (responsible for “Nightman” which is now canceled) and Todd Moyer (“Barb Wire”, “Virus”, and “Wing Commander”). These two are apparently after the name “Galactica” only. The ‘official’ Battlestar Galactica web sight states that these two men wish to discard the original cast, the theme of the show, and even eliminate the Galactica herself!
Larson and Moyer have done work for Studios USA before. Studios USA is apparently the proprietor of the USA network and the Sci-Fi Channel. The great work of this studio can be seen in “Sliders.” A good show was completely butchered by these barbarians! Studios USA also owns “The Jerry Springer Show,” a great bastion of American TV. I’m not sure if it’s just me, but most of the shows listed on Studios USA web sight seem to be slimy and even watching them long enough to flip through the channel makes me feel like I’ve just lost half my intelligence.
Studios USA current wonder shows are “Cleopatra 2525” and “Jack of All Trades.” I have not seen these shows myself, but some of my friends have seen them and their mutual opinion is that the suck. One of my friends said the “Cleopatra 2525” was a bunch of woman fighting a clown. (Sounds more like a porno plot to me.)
Richard Hatch, who played Captain Apollo in the original series, owns the other production company, Shu-Shann. His plans call for the return of available original cast members and to pick up the story line twenty years later, ignoring “Galactica: 1980.” Mr. Hatch has even produced a trailer to show what he can do. Some stills from this can be found on the Battlestar Galactica we sight. Mr. Hatch has even wrote several novels on the subject, none of which I have read yet.
Even though the original BSG is more than twenty years old now, it is more realistic that most of the shows that Studios USA is currently producing. I personally do not think that Galactica should become nothing more than a bunch of female models wanna be actors running around pretending to shoot things. While I do admire a good-looking female body, I do not watch TV for the sole purpose of getting it up!! I did not watch B5 for the good looks of Ivanava. I didn’t watch ST:TNG for their females. I lost interest in ST:V because the producers seem to think that if the put 7of9 in more seens, they’ll get better ratings. Sci-Fi should be kept as stories, not a direct competitor for undersexed perverts like “Bay Watch.”
Support Richard Hatch’s attempt to purchase the rights to the show from Studio USA or movie rights from Universal.
Keep the Battlestar Galactica what it was and what is should be!
