Say good things about Dopers

Kindly omit the ellipsis in the sentence above…I have no idea where it came from.

Well, this place is turning into ground zero for vanity searches. Allow me to add, in no particular order.

Hmm, well first of all there are the threadkillers. All of whom share my silly brand of humor. Let’s see, there’s** fisha**, SSG, An Gadai , LOUNE, Elendil’s Heir, and Auto. Auto himself deserves a more distinctual honor for being one of the funniest guys here. And I’ve had the pleasure of telling him that in person.

And since I mentioned** Auto**, how about** tdn** too. Maybe not necessarily as funny as Auto, but definately a man with no shortage of good advice to dipense in MPSIMS.

**What Exit? ** He’s the enemy, but also one of the smartest guys around here to trade baseball talk with. Also shares my odd habit of having to keeep track of board history as well as gossip.

Liberal, yah, I gotta open all his threads too. I believe he may be a bit off, but in a good way.

Qudgop is remarkably patient with having his name often mispelled.

I keep track of **Antigen ** because we have practically the same job, just each in a different city.

To many MMPers to mention by name, but they are all remarkably accepting, and even patient in light of the times I sometimes blurt out stuff that is waaaaaay too TMI.

**2.5 inches of fun **is my favorite “newbie” here. Really interesting and brave stuff, and lacks the inhibition to stay away from controversial subjects.

TokyoPlayer, so eloquent. To date he has been the only member who has actually started a thread that pushed me to tears. (Well, sad tears anyway, I creied from laughing at most of you knuckleheads at some poit or another, Sampiro comes to mind here)

I miss** Sapo**, he was a smart and funny guy who always had the ability to say what I was thinking, only better.

**EddyTeddyFreddy ** went out of her way to do a couple favors for me about two months back. I acted like an idiot in November and lost the privilige to post here, she went ahead and collected a couple of your email addresses for me so I could keep in contact with some of you.

Speaking of which, how about I say a few good things about the moderation staff here. My email correspondence with gfactor, Dex, and TubaDiva were always quite pleasant and professional. After my bad behavior I was expecting a more abrasive tone, nope.

Hostile Dialect shares my fascination with bad behavior, and also remains immune to negative attention.

Cal and Winston Smith, always two very funny guys. Just as pleasant in real life.

Lobstermobster possesses a tremendous artistic talent.

Oh, and I have a huge message board crush on Nzinga Seated!
Oh, oh, I almost forgot QED! I believe he thinks I may be semi-distrubed, but I’m loving that guy, and I’m trying to get him to come out of his shell a little bit.

That’s everyone I think.

Ginger of the North is a very kind and helpful person.
She helped me post a picture when I was too dumb to do it myself.

QED Was very welcoming to me when I joined. Nice person.

**Left Hand of Dorkness ** - I always pay special attention to your posts. You have a way of saying it straight, backing up your arguments, making a point, adding humour at the right time, knowing exactly what you are talking about, apologizing when necessary, cutting someone down when the deserve it, knowing when to walk away and countless other wonderful things.
You are truly impressive.

Shirley Ujest has really nice tits.

This is why you’re the coolest kid in school.
SmartAleq is a font of hilarity at all times, and gives some damn good advice. She probably thinks I’m stalking her, and she’s not completely wrong.

bbs2k always entertains me. I also like his ability to admit when he’s wrong. Hypothetically. It’s not like that would ever really happen. I told him I was in love with him once, but I don’t think he heard me.

Twickster is sweet and funny, but very pragmatic. If anyone deserves the lion’s share of praise in this thread, she does.

I’ve never seen Freudian Slit, but in my head she’s pretty damn hot. [Maeby Fünke]Marry me![/MF]

Miller always knows what’s what, and will certainly tell you so. He is a brilliant voice of reason.

Love,
A long time lurker who finally ponied up the cash

Not only that, but he has the power to make wedding-rings disappear up nostrils all over the world.

A second vote for jjimm a really nice guy who knows his stuff.

I also like Der Trihs *
ducks and runs

**Cervaise ** and Bryan Ekers have a style of humor that just cracks me up all the time.

Oh, and BBs2k? * I * am the threadkiller.

So do I, no ducking and running required. As long as he stays away from one or two hot button topics, his posts are as thoughtful and worthwhile as anybody’s (and on those topics, he’s predictable enough that at least I get what I expect).
Skald the Rhymer makes Cafe Society a much more interesting place. He starts more great threads there than anybody else, or so it seems to me.

You have joined the ranks, yes. Apologies for leaving you out earlier.

I’ve got a mad doper crush on Skald, his name as the OP = must be read and probably replied to. (Yea, I know you’re 99.99% straight, but I still love ya)

WhyNot I also adore. I don’t want to live at the commune with the rest of you, but I sure as hell would love to visit!

Twickster, grammer queen and wordsmith extraordinaire! I love learning from her, even if my grammer, apostrophe use and the like hasn’t actually improved much.

Sauron doesn’t post nearly enough, but when he does it’s always a wonderfully entertaining read. See the Emperor of the World thread for a great example.

There are a ton more, but I don’t want to drone on.

“Caaaaaaaaan you feel the love tonighhhht…?”

Too many to mention, and I’m sure I’m forgetting some. Forgive me. Gotta single out:

BMalion shares a lot of my interests and is always ready with a zinger to make me LOL.

I always know I’ll enjoy what Sampiro, Liberal, Exapno Mapcase, bbs2k (hey, thanks for the shout-out, above) and Twickster have posted, even when I (ever so rarely) disagree.

Samclem, CK Dexter Haven and tomndebb are the mods par excellance in my book.

What Exit? and Qadgop the Mercotan are my Tolkien authorities - if they don’t know it, it cannot be known. What Exit?, Airman Doors and Sgt. Schwartz know their military stuff and always have worthwhile things to say. Ditto for GFactor and Bricker, “law-talkin’ dudes” of well-deserved repute.

And, of course, eleanorigby shares my love describing things in just three words.

I love the Dope!

jjimm and lobsang crack me up.

Rick and GaryT inform me.

If elucidator ever writes a book, I want to read it. He’s a master at twisting the English language into a form that amuses me.

How could I have forgotten?!?!?!? My fellow U.S. History trivia lovers, OtakuLoki, Siam Sam, 5 time champ, Really Not All That Bright, and Saratoga Sam have become like brothers to me. A great crew.

Biblio and olives, you ladies are so sweet. :o

I know I’m leaving out some folks, but Sauron, Scylla, Cervaise, Sampiro, and the dearly missed **Master Wang-ka ** are on my Must Read list.

’luci makes me laugh, albeit reluctantly. I appreciate that.

Many thanks.
I’ll echo the previous praises given tomndebb, Qad, Anaamika, and the great Polycarp; my only complaint is that they don’t post enough.

Sampiro, I enjoy spending time with you. You’re a truly decent person, and one of the most intelligent people I’ve ever met. If you’d ever get off your ass and write a book, we’d all be better for it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Miller, you’re sarcastic, irascible, and frequently scathing. And you generally say exactly what I’ve been thinking. I think I’d like to buy you a drink some day.

I love that bbs2k isn’t afraid to defend the more controversial posters, even if all evidence points to troll. It keeps the place interesting.

For some reason, every time I see a post by Airman Doors USAF, think “Huh. Interesting!”

ComeToTheDarkSideWeHaveCookies has one of the coolest names of all time.

LOUNE has the funniest, most deprecating sense of humor I’ve encountered.

Doper appreciation.

Let me start with Qadgop the Mercotan: Before I even realized he was a lore master in the subject I love the best, his name caught my eye. I run into very few E.E. Doc Smith fans. I greatly appreciate his levelheaded posts, his willingness to share his wealth of medical knowledge with us and of course, I unofficially consider him the SDMB Elrond, as he is wisest in the Lore of Middle Earth.

Stranger on the Train: I also look forward to his posts on almost any subject, but I especially admire his knowledge of the physical sciences. I have encouraged him to become an SDSAB and I hope he pursues it. Many of his post could be mailbag articles with some footnotes added.

Colibri: His knowledge and posts on Birds and Central America are always a must read, I also enjoy his posting on almost any subject. It doesn’t hurt that he is another born-in-the-Bronx guy.

jshore: another of the brilliant science guys on the board. He is so strong on green issues that it amazes me. I spend a lot of time on green issues myself and I don’t know more than a fraction of what he does. I am extremely happy he is a member of the dope.

twickster: Clever, bright, funny wonderful person with an occasionally snarky tongue. She is a great organizer of dope events and I always enjoy her posts and the I wish I could keep up with the word games she introduces to the board. A poster that really made me feel welcomed when I joined.

**Hal Briston **: A great guy and really made me feel welcome when I joined the dope. A fellow Giants fan and a new surrogate father, he and his wife are good people.

**Wordman **: I look forward to his music related posts. They are usually the high light of any such thread.

silenus: Here is a guy I look forward to sharing a few beers with someday. I always enjoy his posts and I especially enjoy trading barbs with him on baseball. Hopefully in the near future it is our teams in the World Series.

WhyNot: One of the most enjoyable and pleasant posters on the board. I look forward to her point of view and her posts.

Elendil’s Heir: I almost always click on an Op if it is his or if he is that last poster. He is extremely level headed, humorous poster with many shared interests. His historical insights always lead me to learning new things.

RickJay: He is the master of my second favorite subject. He loves baseball and understands the intricacies to point where it is amazing he does not actually work for his beloved Blue Jays. In fact, I am glad he does not, or they would be a far more formidable team and make it that much tougher on my Yanks.

**Mr. Bus Guy **: What can you say about one of the most humorous posters on the board? A great guy and he and his wife are great people to have some drinks with and laugh the evening away.

bbs2k: This crazy guy keeps things interesting and is great at finding the good side of any poster. It is a shame he roots for the Red Sox, but we all have problems.

Southern Yankee: Is probably my favorite newer poster. He can even smooth feathers over in the great North vs. South debates. That is impressive.
Thanks for the call out above, if you ever make it home to Jersey and you feel like it, I will try to organize a small Dope get together.

D_Odds: A great Yankee fan. A great poster and a fellow root beer enthusiast. How could I not like someone that hates the Red Sox, Cowboys and Eagles. I guess he is part of the list of people I think of, when I think of the baseball regulars.

jsgoddess: A good natured Cleveland Indian fan, another of the baseball regulars. I love her posts and I agree with her way to often and a variety of subjects.

Crotalus: Well he suggested my username that I like so much. Additionally he clued me in to be on the lookout for posts by Wordman and I really like and respect his political views. He is calm and rational; he is detailed, intelligent and not a nitpicker. I wish he participated in more of the debates. It would increase the value of the debates and decrease the white noise.

eleanorigby: One of the board’s great nurses. I look forward to her posts and she is another of the posters that made me feel welcomed when I joined.

Phlosphr: Another poster I look forward to reading. He shares my enthusiasm for things Green & Tolkien. One of these day I need to actually meet up with him.

I am going to stop now and apologize to those I missed. I could go at least another dozen, but I need to stop here.
