We have this old, fat introductory science volume, probably sixty or seventy years old, called The Outline Of Science and evidently aimed at the literate layperson. It happened to be lying on top of another book, next to a window, when I took these pictures:
Apparently Rocco is bored by science. However, he’s handsome enough to get away with just about anything. And the more I think about it, the better I like Rocco as a cat name.
I had the same thing happen among my cats. 1 mother, 1 daughter and 2 sons.
The mother would attack her adult daughter. Comfy spots were hers and she didn’t hesitate to swat the others. We had to get rid of the mother.
Now the daughter is the boss of the house. She’s much quicker to growl, hiss and swat than the males.
When the males see a strange cat, they growl and hiss. When the female does, she makes some scary noises and is very aggressive.
I also noticed that male cats are more scared of strangers than female cats. When a stranger comes in the house, the female (even though smaller) will come to meet them after a while. The males are deathly scared.
Perhaps it’s because the males’s instinct is not territorial whereas the females’ instinct is.
