Say "Hi" To My Mother...

If she gets around to posting in here too. My mother is MoodIndigo1. She’s been lurking here for some time, and has now broken the ice, and made her first two posts.

So, if I can get all/some/one of you great Dopers to give her a warm welcome, you’ll make me feel all warm and squishy inside like a wet towel. Besides, I’m sure she’ll eventually make her appearance on this thread.

That said, I’m gonna have to mellow out on the drug and porno references. Oooops… she’s been lurking, so she’s already seen those. Sucks to be me.

NOTE: No unwanted pop-ups will occur if you post on this thread. I promise.

Hi Mom! You don’t mind if I call you Mom right?

Now that the introductions are done, run. No, make that RUN!! SDMB is very addictive.

Wow, I got to say it first.

Thanks for the thread, ZB, even though it’s going to cramp my style a trifle. I’ll have trouble convincing guys I’m 29 years old and a drop-dead gorgeous babe. However, I do still drive that silver Lamborghini…

Grace, thanks for the warm welcome. You can call me Mom if you marry my son. I want 12 grandchildren. If you choose not to, then “Mood” is ok.

Dobbinaire, thanks for the warning, I’ve been looking around here for a while, and I can see how this might be habit-forming.

Nice meeting you both.

Say, there, Mood, what it be like with your fine self?

<gulp> Twelve! Since I’m already married <whew>, I’d better stick with Mood.

Welcome Mood! Can’t have too many mommies around here to keep these kiddoes in line.

Zaphod_B_X…We’ve finally come full circle.

Hi mom.

I like cheese.

Hey, Mood! Welcome!

Just wanted to say that before I saw this thread I read your Billie Holliday post and thought it was great. I’ve been trying to learn more about the female jazz singers and wondered if you have any classic albums you’d recommend for a new jazz listener.

SV

(ZB - Cool Mom you’ve got there – can I borrow her sometime?)

Hello MoodIndigo!

Very nice to have you with us. Hope you have as much fun as I have had here!

Scotti

Did you submit the mandatory, compulsory stool sample to the SDMB before your first post?

You didn’t?

Better hurry up, then.

Mail it to TubaDiva as quick as you can.

Fast like a bunny, now–you hear?

Welcome!

I’d like to invite my mom to join, but Id hate for her to know what a potty mouth I’ve developed.

“Hi To My Mother”…

Welcome to the SDMB, Mood. Please pull up a chair and make yourself at home!

::MsRobyn goes to work and makes some dynamite punch and little tea cakes for the welcoming party::

Robin

Wow… nice welcome for Zaph’s mom.

And Vassk himself made an account just to post in this thread. I’m flattered. I’m sure Mood would be flattered as well.

Welcome, Ms. Indigo. Is there a Mr. Indigo?

Required middle-aged people flirting accomplished. Now I’ll just say “Hi!” like a good boy.

OK… The urge to take anyone who flirts with my mother to The Pit is going to be a tough one to resist.

Oh well, I knew what I was getting into when I told her about this place.

Hi Zaphod’s mom!

And that little pop-up incident that Zaphod got himself into? Well, it wasn’t his fault. It was an accident, and he apologized. You raised him right.

Hi everyone! Thanks again for the welcome.

Persephone: I heard about the popup incident and plan to keep reminding ZB of that whenever he mocks my lack of internat savvy.

SpoilerVirgin, thanks for your kind words about my post in Café. I’ll have to think about your question, I do think it would be a good topic to post in the Café. But perhaps someone who is not a rank newbie like myself should do that (hint hint!). I’d be happy to contribute to such a thread, though.

With regards to Billie Holiday herself, I have so many albums of her work, some of them excellent (they tend to be huge compilations and rather expensive), but if I were to pick to albums to give someone an idea of BH, I would suggest: **Billie Holiday - Greatest Hits **(Sony) Sony/Columbia; ASIN: B00000FC7M
and

Lady in SatinSony/Columbia;
ASIN: B000002AH9
The first album would give you an idea of her work with some of the greatest jazz musicians of her time, the second album would show you what everyone is talking about when they say that, even worn-out from the booze and drugs, she could still mesmerize through her musicianship and the depth of emotion in her interpretation. This second album is not one of my personal favourites, I am not too keen on the orchestration bits.

Bosda Di’Chi of Tricor: I don’t know TubaDiva, and since you told me to hurry with the sample, I sent it to your address, ok? I used an old Victoria Secret box to pack it in, so keep your eyes open and watch for it before your SO opens it.

dropzone Mr. Indigo says it’s cool to flirt with me, if you’re of flirting age and if somehow you can manage to do so without my son ZB noticing it.

Ok, MsRobyn and all other Dopers I didn’t respond to by name, let’s have some of that dynamite punch. Forget the teacakes. We need to spike that dynamite.
