Say something nice about a fellow Doper.

What’s great about GfH is that while she publicly announces my sweetness, in private she asks if I am now too good for the dopers. Tis ok though, for she is still tops in my book.

And let’s hear it for lno and his magnificient ability to organize Pig Roasts and Road Trips.

Cheers

Airman Doors, USAF has a great strength of character that really comes out in his posts.

Scotticher always comes across as such a sweet person.

Eve I think is one of the classiest people I have ever come across on a bboard.

lieu has an uncanny ability to turn a simple poo story into an hilarious tale that makes my sides hurt and tears of laughter stream down my face

Would it be stating the blindingly obvious to say that Polycarp always seems to engage in rational, well-tempere debate, is forthcoming with well thought out opinions, and is always a pleasure to read.
And I do not even agree with most of his views.

Ukulele Ike is one of the smartest, funniest guys I have ever met.

Polycarp has raised my estimation of Christians immeasurably.

Cranky sent me something delightful through the mail just to be sweet.

StuyGuy and ArchiveGuy continually impress me with their breadth of knowledge.

Billdo and Oxymoron are delighful tea companions.

There are many more, but it’s early and I’ve not yet had my coffee injection.

bodypoet organized that lovely comfort party, which gives me the warm fuzzies.

Just a few that sprang to mind immediately, and no reflection on the many others who I’d also like to say nice things about (particularly those UK and Irish Dopers I’ve met that I didn’t list below, an entertaining and intelligent group all-round).

Lessee:

tomndebb and Tamerlane: knowledgeable, helpful and superbly well-written posts.

Polycarp: more tolerant and patient than I’ve ever been.

Francesca: one of the most pleasant and thoughtful posters around.

Anahita: friendliness and enthusiasm beyond the call of duty.

Steve Wright: possibly the funniest writing I’ve read.

There’s too many more to mention. I shall think on this.

RuedeDay makes the best hijackable threads.

FairyChatMom for all the grief I give her about, well, lots of stuff, always makes me smile and can be counted on for a lift when my spirits are down.

Flamsterette_X is one of SDMB’s most gentle and caring spirits.

Homebrew is my SDMB crush.

There are tons of others who are always good for encouragement, a laugh or just an enjoyable read.

BigGirl in my opinion should be forced to changer her username to mediumGirl after all her weight loss.

My antie Gingerofthenorth is very spiffy…

Her husband, weirddave is very funny…

iampunha is very oddish(but in a GOOD way, you see…)

Theres other ones, but I only know their LJ names…

So Racergirl, You’re the best.

RTFirefly is a kind man with a gentle good humor, and is honest as the day is long.

Generous, too. He offered me a place to stay overnight last spring, which enabled me to go down to the D.C. area to celebrate Geobabe and UncleBill’s engagement.

Since then, I’ve had the pleasure of lunching with him in NYC this past January. Always good company.

Besides, the man’s as rabid a Marxist as I am. What do you expect me to do, join a club and beat him over the head with it?

Ukulele Ike is a John Thorne enthusiast, and thus a man of excellent taste.

Octavia Bunion-Smythe Esq. is fun to hang out with online, as well as intelligent and well-read.

I could go on for a long time, but think it’s someone else’s turn.

So is no one going to follow the OP’s guidelines? I actually like this better (freestyle niceness!) but thought I should at least apologize to Shadez for not going along. Sometimes good ideas get shanghai’ed

I just wanted to say that SouthernStyle was very kind to me in a Pit Thread this week. We didn’t see eye-to-eye on the topic, but he added the unnecessary but very nice comment that he usually likes my posts.

Giraffe is a damned funny poster who doesn’t get enough credit for his wit because he’s sly and unpredictable about where it’ll turn up.

Fenris is witty, intelligent and knowledgable about many things.

I can usually count on CrankyAsAnOldMan, Eve, Scotticher and ShirlyUjest for kind, compassionate and funny commentary.

Zev Steinhart is a well reasoned and measured read as well.

I like reading elucidator. His particular style and facility with the language is a frequent joy.

Lobsang wears his heart on his sleeve and has a nicely self-deprecating sense of humour.

I always admired Sparc for his patience in explaining the minutiae of EU proceedings. Doesn’t seem to be around any more, which is a shame.

Scylla really should be writing a column or something. He’s got talent to burn.

I am guilty of sometimes adding more to the personalities of the posters I read than what can normally be inferred from their writings. But I think it’s safe to say that tomndeb is an all round great guy

I like the way Anthracite can cut through a bunch of crap and present an argument in a clear and concise manner.

There was some greco -person?? who impressed me with his knowledge about Saudi Arabian culture.

Persephone seems like a sassier version of Scotticher -both nice girls.

There are lots of good people here!

Scylla and I may disagree on a lot of things, but man, that man makes me laugh.

I can always count on Fenris to crack me up with the best parodies around.

Polycarp is my personal aspiration of patience and kindness.

matt_mcl is my mac daddy.

I miss seeing Doobieous around.

(And thanks to everyone for the kind words. )

Esprix

Thanks, GfH! Incidentally, I read a post you made in the Comfort Thread a day or so ago. And I burst into tears, because it was the exact same thing that I could have said. Although you were speaking for yourself, I felt as if you were speaking for me, too.

And in case any of you are reading this and have a nice big lap, a comforting hug and a “it’ll be okay” available, well, the line forms behind Gazelle and I!

There’s no way I could possibly say all the nice things about all the wonderful dopers out there, but to cut the field a little bit, I’m going to exclude everyone in the following categories: chatted with, drink with, shared meals together, exchanged books with, been treated to football games by, received kick ass watches from, or are fellow participants in the mutual admiration society otherwise known as my LJ friends list.

That said, there are some people with whom I have no interaction other than that I enjoy their posts. Your participation on these boards really brightens my day!

Podkayne: Witty, smart, full of information, bonus points for being able to explain sciencey things to non-sciencey people.

Auntie Em: Could you be a better writer? Your posts are glorious!

Legomancer: Your contributions make Cafe Society a great forum.

Bricker: I don’t think we share the same views on a lot of issues, but especially in GD I am always impressed by your debating skills, and more by your ability to keep your cool and stay civil, light-hearted, and informative even when faced with some real lunacy.
