Yikes! I wouldn’t know where to start…, or finish. Suffice to note that I’ve generally enjoyed the hundreds of Dopers I’ve met. I can’t think of a truly bad experience, and only a couple (literally, two) of awkward moments in many, many meetings over the years.
I can think of many magic moments.
I can’t do a list - I have to go to work in the morning.
Given that I’ve met easily over a hundred dopers, had relationships (with many more fond memories than not of those that ended) with more than one and slept in the abodes of some, I’m having a hard time thinking of more than a handful of those with whom I wouldn’t happily share an afternoon or something like that.
And at least one who’s so cool I asked for all her afternoons in advance;) She’s gonna be stuck with me for a WHILE.
I’m with RT. I have more friends that I met through the Dope than I have “real life.”
To alter the parameters just a bit, I will, instead of saying who I think is cool (most everyone), mention a few names of those whose friendship I feel is close and means a lot to me.
Biggirl, who is such a blast. We can always talk music or life over a few (dozen) beers and have a jolly old time.
Cajun Man and DrMatrix are wonderful guys. We had a lot of fun in the past two years and I really miss them being on the East Coast.
DAVEW0071 and Not-Mrs. Dave-Guy are terribly nice - they are the next-door neighbors I always wish I had.
Persephone is one of the nicest and coolest people to hang out with. She can make complete boredom fun.
These are, not surprisingly, the folks I’ve spent the most time with, so I think I can safely say they are friends I truly care for as opposed to aquiantences that I have only chatted with once or twice.
'Course, that’s just how I feel. I can’t speak for them.
Heh… I read that the first time as “She can make bedroom fun”, to which I went :eek: .
I also notice I didn’t mention lno who is a US type guy that wasn’t at SugarDope, but is still a pretty cool pork-loving guy. And anyone who makes Elenfair that happy is thumbs up in my book.
Too many to list, but I’ll give special mention to the local female Dopers I’ve met because they’ve had a real impact on my life.
Kyla now lives in my same town (okay, for the time being) and she is fun to hang out with. And she puts up with me and my weird family and messy home, which is no small thing.
HelloAgain has become an exercise partner, book club member, and party co-hostess extraordinaire.
CrankyAsAnOldManis an unbelievably smart and funny person. You know how she seems clever online? She’s like that in person, too. And she TiVoed the Nova on coelacanths for me! Indulging strange passions is the sign of a friend. Also Hello Again, who provides the Ann Arborites with food from random countries and gets geeked about LotR with me.
I was going to list everyone I’ve met who is cool, but I don’t think I have the time or the energy to do that. I’ve met hundreds of Dopers and pretty much all of them were very cool. Dopers are just about the nicest, most generous people around, and awesome fun to party with, too. I’m afraid of leaving someone really great out, so I’m not going to even try.
Every Doper I’ve ever met IRL was cool. Many have become special friends, too. I can’t list everyone, and any attempt would undoubtedly leave more than a couple someones out.
But the Geobills rock like mad.
TruePisces and Verrain are the absolute best.
Zappo is the greatest, bar none. He’s a stellar human being.
Cajun Man and Dr. Matrix are cooler than cool.
Euty and Persephone are two people I absolutely love.
Delphica is an angel.
Zyada is both totally hot and totally cool.
Gorgon Heap and Acrylic Vessel are wonderful people (and I have a crush on A_C, don’t tell anyone).
Even if I’ve met them only very briefly, such as Scott Evil or Kyla, I’ve always been impressed with how great Dopers are. Face it, we rock the house.
I wrote my reply before I read the other posts. Actually, RTFirefly said it all. You know who you are, my friends. I’m glad I’ve had the chance to meet so many of you.
Ginger of the North is very cool and she has fluffy red hair which I happen to also think is very cool. It kinda makes her look like she’s sporting a halo.
