Say something nice about the other candidate (US election)

Yeah, I don’t think something that would make a candidate scream in horror would count as “something nice” to say.

Since Sarah Palin doesn’t want to have sex with Dopers, a Doper saying they’d have sex with her isn’t “nice.”

Indeed.

  1. Obama/Biden
  2. McCain has been a great Senator and has (at least up until recently) been very concerned with reaching across the aisle and compromising for the good of the country. I think the 2000 McCain would have been a much better President than Bush. I’m not a big fan of his now, though.
  3. She and her husband seem to have a very good relationship, and she is very driven and ambitious.

[ol][li]McCain.[]Obama means well, he is absolutely sincere, he is charismatic and an excellent speaker.[]Ummm…Biden voted for the AUMF, and stated publicly that Saddam Hussein was a threat to our national security, and that there was no option except to remove him (cite).[/ol][/li][/QUOTE]

I’m always curious about ‘excellent speaker’ compliments.

Would you say that Obama is smart?

Voting Obama
Thinks McCain would make as good a president as Obama would, probably.
Palin seems fearless.

I’m voting for Obama.
McCain served with honor and suffered quite a bit in that service.

  1. Obama
  2. No doubt about it, he made tremendous sacrifices for our country. And up until recently he was not afraid to go against the party line.
  3. I admire how she balances being a governor and a mother of five. That is not easy.
  1. I am honored to have the opportunity to vote for a candidate, for once, and I’m voting for Obama/Biden.
  2. I think McCain is a good-hearted man and I like his sense of humor.
  3. She’ll shake up the GOP a bit, and she lives far away in Alaska.
  1. Voting for Obama.

  2. He’s a war hero and a true patriot.

  3. She’s got great taste in shoes.

  1. Voting for McCain
  2. Obama is very articulate
  3. Biden is very likeable

Heavens, yes, for many values of “smart”. I know it is a common insult to call some politician or other “stupid”, but I doubt anyone gets very far in public life without being smart in some sense - book smart, people smart, street smart, something.

  1. Who are you voting/did you vote for? (If not a US citizen, who would you vote for if you could?)
  2. What do you like about the other candidate for President?
  3. [optional] What do you like about the other candidate for vice-president?
  1. I am voting for Obama though I did vote McCain in the primary.

a. He is a smart and savy guy and has strong fiscal conservative roots.
b. He served his country well in the military and Senate.
c. He really has crossed party lines more often than most these days.
d. He never use to kowtow to the religious right.
e. The country and the world would have been far better off with McCain in 2000 than Bush or Gore in my opinion but sadly it did not work out. I think he was the right man for that time.

  1. Sorry, I cannot think of one thing.
  1. I’m voting for McCain.
  2. Obama is a great speaker who has managed to get a great number of people excited about this election.
  1. Voted for Obama
  2. McCain is very smart and has a good sense of humor, as demonstrated by his many appearances on Jon Stewart’s show.
  3. She likes hockey.
  1. Voting for Mike Gravel.

  2. Barack Obama is passionate about his beliefs, and seems to have the greater good (as markedly opposed to the Greater Good) in mind. If I had to vote for one of the two major-party candidates – or, really, if Gravel were to drop dead before Tuesday – I’d vote for him in a heartbeat.

  3. John McCain is fair-minded and open to alternate points of view; he does not simply toe the party line dutifully like many politicians. While his beliefs and mine are too unlike for me to want him to be President, I will say with no sarcasm intended that we could do one hell of a lot worse.

  4. Joe Biden is intelligent, charismatic and capable. In the position of Vice President, he would be an excellent statesman, and should the worst happen to Obama I’d feel comfortable with him in the Oval Office.

  5. Sarah Palin is not afraid to speak her mind about her strongest beliefs and positions. WYSIWYG is a rare and desireable quality in politics, and it’s become clear that she possesses it in spades.

  1. Obama/Biden
  2. 2000 era McCain was a gutsy, innovative politician.
  3. Coming up blank.
  1. McCain/Palin

  2. I believe Obama means well. I can see how he is perceived as a strong leader.

  3. Biden is competent.
