Galette
600g wholewheat flour
100g sesame
12g baking powder
1tspfull salt
100ml vegetable oil
2.5dl beer
make round, flat, 2-3 bite-sized shapes, bake at 200C, ~20 minutes
they make for a quick, healthy snack. stores well in a tightly-closed container.
Hiya Emily. I’ve never heard of a Galette. What is it? Some kind of bread? Looking at the recipe, I see no sugar, so I’m guessing they ain’t cookies…
yes! hi:) it’s a form of crackers:)
Hi Emily. I’m one of the moderators here.
I’ve altered your thread title to be a little bit more descriptive of your post. Please make sure to make your subject line something that would indicate what your thread is about.
Welcome to the SDMB!
What kind of beer are you using there, emily?
thanks druid and will do:)
baron, it can be any light beer really. when you think about it, beer is both food and drink being how nutritious it is:)
Crackers, huh? Sounds good. Though being a single male not known for culinary expertise, I’d probably just buy some crackers/pretzels/nuts/other munchie thing, and drink the beer. No dishes to wash!

lol! good point:)
but will they be wholewheat;)
I have a really good recipe for beer batter for onion rings, and I’m pretty sure it just involves beating flour into the beer and letting it sit for a few hours at room temperature. I’m too lazy to go look it up at the moment, but if anyone’s interested, lemme know and I’ll post it.
The best endorsement I can give it is that my mom was a creature of habit. She had one way and one way only of doing certain things. The way to make fried onion rings was to dip them in batter made from Aunt Jemima pancake mix, then in flour, then fry. Very, very messy, but good.
Once a family friend introduced her to the beer batter, she never looked back.
I hate the taste of beer, but the batter doesn’t taste beer-y. It’s just nice and light (in texture – not calories).
