Not an SCAdian but a Rennie Wench from the Texas Renaissance Festival. Had a lot of friends and some family in the SCA.
I used to be in the SCA (Kingdom of the Outlands) but lately my interest has dropped off. I’m sure it’s mostly due to time constraints from going back to school, but I’m not sure if I’ll ever get back into it again. Matter of fact, I just sold a bunch of costumes and armor on ebay.

Unfortunately, I will not be at Coronation/25th Year…however, to all the other Meridians out there, I invite you to attend Fool’s War at the end of this month, here in Middle Georgia…it’s fun, it’s cheap ($10 for the weekend, $5 for daytrippers), and I’m the co-goobercrat (guys in charge of making the event funny).
I will also be getting squired at the event, huzzah! Meeting some Dopers would make it a perfect event!

Same here, only you can find me at Bristol Renaissance Faire (Illinois/Wisconsin border) every summer. This’ll be my first year in FoF, although I’ve been participating off and on in Faire for nearly 20 years.
I’m not in SCA, but I keep saying I’m gonna do it. I make my own armor and have recently moved on to attempting to make some weapons. I just finished (well, it’s almost finished) a really wicked looking large knife.
The main problem I have is that the local SCA group meets during the week a lot, and I’m a single dad and my kids would kill me if I drug them to the meetings. Their mom takes them to Ren fairs and they hate it.
These kids today!!!
I’ve been meaning to get into it for some time, but I’ll be moving sooner or later so it isn’t worth trying to do where I currently am.

Non-SCAdian here, but I’m quite the rennie. I’ve volunteered (and occasionally actually gotten paid to work/offered jobs) with the Florida Renaissance Festival. Period costuming is one of many obsessions, and I’d probably join the Paladin Society on campus up here if I had the time, the money to invest in all sorts of fun supplies for it, and the ambition to beat people senseless with boffers and play other medieval games.
Either way, I have no time for it since I’m a student. I’ve got too many interests as it is.
