Wiki & Google have basically failed me. The SDMB is my next step.
Scarlet Adventuress was a Pulp Magazine, with a female protagonist.
It was published at least by 1935, or earlier.
Later, it may have been re-titled Modern Adventuress.
Any info on the series, including possible reprints, would be helpful.
Comic Books Plus has a scan of one issue but precious little other info. The publisher is Associated Authors. There’s a little more info barely readable at the bottom of the second babe of the scan. And, get this, the editor’s name appears to be David Bruce Scarlet.
Second page. My Freudian slip is showing.
What kind of weird faux-see-thru dress with a built-in push up bra is that? Also, someone should tell that model that her left shoulder is probably dislocated.

Yikes! Read the captions for the illustrations in the first story! Like Ricky Gervais would say, “It’s funny because it’s racist.”
Yes.
Jul-1935 – Jan-1937: as Scarlet Adventuress
Mar-1937 – Sep-1937, as Modern Adventuress
Nov-1937 – Jul-1938, as Scarlet Adventuress

If you’re not familiar with Homeville, it’s an unbelievably comprehensive site for all fiction.
The cover above is given as #4 rather than #3, art by Wynne W. Davies.
If you’re looking for specific protagonists, try Jeff Nevin’s Encyclopedia of Pulp Heroes.
Probably not findable, but look for the fanzine Nemesis, Inc. #13 (Fall 1982) - " Robert Sampson wrote about Scarlet Adventuress, a short-lived pulp magazine focused on exotic adventuresses."
And Doug Ellis wrote An Index to “Scarlet Adventuress” and “Modern Adventuress” in 2002 for the The 2nd Annual Windy City Pulp and Paperback Show Collectable Program Booklet.
An immense pulp fandom exists. Or used to. Hopefully some are still alive. Try to contact some of the names or people at Pulpfest. I’ve been to one and they’re lots of fun with people who know everything.
Is there one consistent protagonist?
Or is it an anthology?
It’s a magazine with different contents every month. Some writers sold to it more than once, though.
My thanks.
