Last word on the subject: The glass is temperature efficient glass with some kind of security sheeting on it. Its mostly dark-tinted and only reflects orange when reflecting the sun. While it’s not ‘bullet proof’ glass, it’s security glass… although the most they’d say about it is, “I didn’t pay extra for it.” (?)
Or is it something like this?
It’s a “security window film”, it tints the window for UV protection and also makes it less likely for glass shards to fly around if a window is broken (say a kid hits a baseball at the window or someone carrying something stumbles and bumps against it). It wouldn’t be much of a hindrance to anyone trying to break in through the window or provide protection from a bullet (except as stated before, the film might keep shards stuck to it so you aren’t dealing with glass shrapnel).
Just speculation but I wonder if this is the stuff you’re talking about.
