Science Fiction Trivia Question From The 60s

I have a memory of a science fiction series from the 60s. It could be earlier, I may have been watching reruns. It was about a group of adults whose automobile was hit by a UFO that was crash landing. The aliens felt bad about the accident and used their technology to heal the damaged adults. In the end each adult had enhanced abilities such better vision, hearing, sense of smell, and I think other things. They used their new found skills for the betterment of mankind. This is all based on memory and was 6 or 7 years old at the time. I believe it came out of the UK.

In The Champions, the heroes were lost in the Himalayas and almost died of exposure; they were rescued by some people from a Shangri-La kind of place who fixed them up using a kind of magical healing that combined gold and welding.

That sound about right. Aliens, monks! At 8 years old its hard to tell the difference. heck, at 43 years old its still hard for me to tell the difference.
