Scientific support to lemon juice introvert/extrovert experiment?

My wife has a book on home decorating which mentions an experiment to determine if you are an introvert or an extrovert.

Basically you put a drop of lemon juice on your tongue. Introverts produce more lemon juice, extroverts produce less.

I thought the whole thing was bunk but a quick search on the Web indicates that the idea may have a basis in fact: http://www.bbc.co.uk/science/humanbody/mind/articles/personalityandindividuality/lemons.shtml

I haven’t studied Psychology seriously in a long, long time so I am prepared to be proven wrong. I guess part of my problem with the whole thing is the subjectiveness of such labels as “introvert” and “extrovert”.

So how about it Psych Dopers…has this idea held up to rigorous testing? Is this a widely supported idea?

Just to help LL out

You know, I composed the OP twice.

The first time I got it wrong (as above), then fixed it.

Then a computer problem forced me to re-boot and re-write the whole thing. Of course I re-wrote it wrong and DIDN’T catch it the second time.

The cite says point blank that this is a theory and doesn’t mention any formal tests, cites, or names of scientists. That they tested it on a bunch of friends is totally meaningless.
