Scores killed in explosions and shootout in Paris. Hostages being held

As potential hostages and murder victims whose status was unknown, it’s perfectly appropriate to report that they’re now known to be safe.

The US should start accepting more Syrian refugees than the puny 10,000 it agreed to accept so far.

Funny how a radical belief system and ideology is not held up to severe scrutiny because it involves a sky fairy. If this ideology was __________ism the intellectual debate and attempts of reform would be much more serious and focused.

Shut the fuck up.

Excellent points. Before the anti-Muslim knee-jerk reaction kicks in here, it’s also important to remember that Christians committed terrible deeds during Crusades 800 years ago.

France closed its borders–are they not worried about taking a page out of Donald Trump playbook?

Everyone should read this Pulitzer-worthy essay, What ISIS Really Wants, if they haven’t already. To summarize, ISIS is an Islamic religious movement, centered on the belief that they are re-establishing the Caliphate in accordance with Islamic scripture. Everything that ISIS does, from their geopolitical strategy to their outlandish methods of torture and execution, is based on Islamic scripture.

Islam is a religion of peace.

Why does it matter? ISIS has been contained, so whatever they do is irrelevant in present situation.

Sure, as long as none are Sunnis.

ISIS is contained as far as their territorial expansion goes, which is probably why they’ve started to focus on lashing out at the West. Might as well us the territory they’ve got to train Western recruits and send them back home.

Are you advocating a policy of discrimination against Sunnis? Did you not read **Monty’s ** excellent points, which include quitting treating all Muslims like they’re either terrorists or potential terrorists?

Thankfully, the US is opening up more Syrian refugee processing centers, so that they can arrive in the US as soon as possible.

If they never make it into the country it doesn’t matter how mad we make them. Plus, if we assume that a certain percentage are extremists, we are knowingly importing a non-trivial number of terrorists. Is the government’s first priority to protect Americans or isn’t it?

Christians have been doing terrible deeds more recently than that.

If there’s a single report from the US in the next few days about anyone saying something that might hurt Muslims’ feelings, the FBI should come down with all its might on the offenders and investigate it as a hate crime.

I recommend reading Agent Storm: My Life Inside al Qaeda and the CIA . It was coauthored by two security experts that often appear as analysts on CNN. Paul Cruickshank and Tim Lister verified this guy’s story and helped him write it.

Its a fascinating look into the lives of radical Muslims. The places they studied and got radicalized. Morton Storm is Danish and converted to Islam. He was moderate and looking to learn more about his new religion. He went to Yemen to study for 9 months and became a radical. Knew Al-Qaeda leader Anwar al-Awlaki and eventually betrayed him to his handlers in the intelligence community,

Several people here have asked what do these guys want? Why are they doing this? I found this book answers a lot of these questions about these radicals.

Agreed. The endless litany of bombings, mass killings, torture, and systemized rape committed by Christians more recently than that must not be forgotten.

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm, or whose “side” you’re on, or anything.

François Hollande was at the Stade de France with the bombs going off just outside, he’s thinking of self preservation, not politics.
