Scott Walker is in

Rick Santorum says we shouldn’t vote for Scott Walker because Walker’s wife is in favor of gay rights, and she might sway Walker to change his mind on the subject.

That’s not correct. It’s 16 out of the last 34 years. And 18 of those 34 years both seats were held by Democrats.

Kind of creepy how he worships Ronald Reagan.

Millennia from now, heretics will acknowledge that Ronald Reagan probably was a real person, but they will question his divinity.
(Not my comment. Copied from another board.)

“Tonette” Walker? Who names their daughter “Tonette” ? She sounds like an ocarina.

Doo-wop singers would name their daughter Tonette.

The La Crosse area is, I’m told, unusually liberal/Dem despite it being largely working-class white.

I hope that’s true – I just became a La Crosse resident this week!

I stand corrected; my math was wrong on how long Russ Feingold held the seat now held by Ron Johnson.

The other seat (which was once Joseph McCarthy’s) was held by William Proxmire for 22 years, then Herb Kohl for 24 years (and is now held by Tammy Baldwin).

This is creepy beyond words. I’m surprised his wife puts up with dedicating all of their anniversaries to Saint Ronald.

Proxmire was a Democrat. I met him once in a restaurant in Howards Grove in the 70’s and I was drunk out of my head. Wasn’t one of my prouder moments.

Yah; I didn’t make that clear, but that Senate seat (Proxmire / Kohl / Baldwin) has been Democratic since the 1950s. He was well-known for going out in public in Wisconsin to meet his constituents; I had a short conversation with him at a Kay-Bee Toy store while I was in college.

Which was still not long enough to let me forget Edith Bunker’s rendition of the name:

On Walker’s election (and the GOP hold in general on the WI governor’s office) - remember that the election is on the non-presidential cycle, where Republicans can turn out the vote and the Democrats can’t. So Walker will be facing a different electorate if he is the GOP presidential candidate (and may pull a Gore and lose his home state).

That of course doesn’t explain the recall election.

yeah, no shit. I was at the Wagon Wheel restaurant stewed as hell. I’m wondering who this dink is walking around shaking peoples hand. When I was told it was a U.S. Senator I tried acting straight for 2 minutes but slurred every word I spoke to him. We were seniors in high school and the drinking age was 18. Hope that incident wasn’t what later prompted the feds to impose 21 on the states. :p:smack:

Walker equates gays with pedophiles.

For whom I hold a special hate because he was always such a tightass on space-program and science-research spending. Burn on Venus, Senator!

 He’s doing no such thing. Isn’t it reasonable that a greatER threat to kids would come from overnights and such with adults that are attracted to boys? That means women and gay men. The same would be true for girl scouts…man and lesbians. Now, if you want to argue that women should be able to go on overnights with boy scouts and men should be able to go on overnights with girl scouts, you’re free to make that argument.

None of the women I know are attracted to boys; they are attracted to men. Same with all the gay men I know: they are attracted to men.

Why do you think all adult gay men and all adult women are attracted to young boys? :dubious:

Yes, he is. That’s exactly what he’s doing, and he’s doing it very deliberately. “Gays are a threat to our children,” is one of the oldest homophobic slurs out there.

No, it’s not reasonable. Gay people do not want to sleep with children. Straight people do not want to sleep with children. Pedophiles want to sleep with children, and and pedophiles overwhelmingly identify as heterosexual.

I was unaware that the we were restricting the discussion to people you know personally. But surely you are aware there are, in fact, adults who do like to have sex with children, right?

I don’t. And said no such thing. How about if you limit your responses to things I actually say? Something tells me that might be a nit more productive.

Now tell me, who do you think is more likely to want to have sex with a 13 year old boy, someone who is sexually attracted to males or someone who is not sexually attracted to males?

And who do you think is more likely to want to have sex with a 13 year old girl, someone who is sexually attracted to females or someone who is not sexually attracted to females?

And that might explain your knee-jerk reaction. But that doesn’t mean that’s what he was doing. As I just asked in my previous post:

Who do you think is more likely to want to have sex with a 13 year old boy, someone who is sexually attracted to males or someone who is not sexually attracted to males?

And who do you think is more likely to want to have sex with a 13 year old girl, someone who is sexually attracted to females or someone who is not sexually attracted to females?

First, your cite merely goes to dispel the myth that all those who abuse children are gay. I don’t doubt the veracity of that claim. But do you deny that there is some subset of people, both straight and gay, who want to have sex with someone under age? Do you also agree that the predilection to be attracted to young children is different from the predilection to be attracted to teens? I know you do because I know you know the difference between pedophilia and ebophilia.
