I’m kind of hit-or-miss for most weekends. This coming weekend is out for me, and I have things going on at varying parts of the day for the next few. However, weekend evenings, oddly enough, are pretty good.
Where is everyone? I’m in Ahwatukee, but I work near Metrocenter.
That sounds good to me. I’m pretty much free every weekend except for the weekend of the 30th (Mar). What part of Phoenix am I from? Hmm, not sure what they call my location (I’m still new here): I’m near Indian School and E. 20th St and I work 2 blocks from the Ballpark on E. Jefferson.
OK, right now I’m thinking 7PM on Saturday, April 7 at Dan Ryan’s on Highland Ave. near 20th St. (location chosen as a courtesy to our newest resident). They have good food, good drinks, and a pleasant atmosphere with a live (but hopefully not too loud) jazz band. How does that sound to the rest of you? Another possibility nearby is Coffee Plantation, in the Biltmore Plaza at Camelback and 24th, where I could get a mint mocha (mmmmm…mint mocha).
Thank you. The date is good for me as is the time. I know where 20th St. is, and with Mapquest I can find Highland Ave! (I have a vague recollection of seeing it somewhere).
Will this be for dinner? I need to know if I should come hungry or not
Whoo, excellent! I love it when a plan comes together.
Mauvaise:
Cautionary note about 20th St.: I don’t believe it’s continuous between Indian School and Highland. You’ll probably want to take the Squaw Peak freeway or 24th St., but you’ll figure that out when you look at Mapquest.

Oh fer Christ…I guess so. Just kidding. Of course you can bring your hubby, ya silly.
By the way, sdimbert, I’m sorry I missed you last night. I was on my way back from Washington, D.C., where I had attended a Dopefest on Saturday. Padeye did his damnedest to get in touch with me, though, which I appreciate.
There’s always the possibility that the hubby won’t WANT to come, but I have to ask him just to make him feel wanted.
Mauvaise, Highland is a quarter mile south of Camelback; Dan Ryan’s is right on the south side of the Town & Country shopping center - across 20th St from PETsMART. If you’re at 20th and Indian School, you’re right there, practically.
I mean, I get off the plane in KC, where the temperature is less than half what it was when I got on in Arizona, fly home, go to sleep, wake up, check online, and you’re lining up a huge gathering?!?!
Let’s not forget yesterday when it was about 95 when I left work at 4pm. I’ve been so warm the last few nights that I’ve had to sleep with a fan on. This keeps up, I might even turn the A/C on
It’s not much to bitch about but I’m freezing my frickin’ ass off (right Mr. Bigglesworth?) in my office. The AC system blasts ice cold air next to the exterior walls where I am so wear a heavy sweater at my desk and chug hot beverages all day long.
We just had our office A/C fixed the other day, thank God. We get a little greenhouse effect going here in the afternoon. I’d been handling this by propping the door open, but this strategy was quickly becoming ineffective. Why don’t you just grab a laptop and go work outside, Padeye?
By the way, if y’all like classical music, the ASU Choral Union, in which I sing baritone, will be perfoming Verdi’s Requiem with the ASU Symphony on Friday, 4/20 at 7:30PM at Gammage. That’s two days before the ball game. Admission is free. The concert will kick ass.
Padeye, I have the same problem in my office. It has been the coldest spot in the entire office all winter and now that summer has come upon us (why do I get the impression that we don’t get “spring” here?) I have a feeling it’s going to be the hottest spot. At least that’s the way it was the last few afternoons … they haven’t bothered turning on the AC yet, so it might be ok once they do.
Of course this morning I was freezing, so I had to run my little space heater. (Does that mean I’m becoming a true resident … when I freeze when it’s almost 70 out?)
It just so happens that I work in the Facilities Department. We moved to a new building in October. My new cube is directly in the path of two HVAC units. Both blow directly on me. Anyplace NOT in my cube is a perfectly comfortable 74 degrees. I leave my cube, I’m comfortable. Anywhere in my cube, however, I freeze. This will not change in the summer, as the building standard temperature does not change. I asked the engineers if they could do anything - they said I’m SOL. Thanks, guys.
What does this mean in the big picture? I’m going to have to wear a flippin’ sweater when it’s 115 outside.
Thanks, but I don’t think she’d get it. My parents live here, too - I’ll probably visit with them and then head down - it’ll be pretty easy. They live in Moon Valley, so I can just jump on the 51 and be there in no time. I’ll just be late. (If y’all go anyplace else, CALL ME! Jeff, I’ll e-mail you my cell number.)
