Ok, I need a book for a poster and a report for college. I order it on 21 November, says in stock, will ship in one or two days. I pay extra for UPS two day delivery. It finally ships on 24 November. Still haven’t gotten it. Tracking (1Z85V8370212440443) has it going all over the place and will not be delivered until Monday 29 Nov., when I will no longer be at my parents address (where I had it shipped so I could read it over vacation) so when it comes on Monday, they will have to rush to UPS and send it to me at school and it will still be a real chore to get the work done. I want to complain to amazon about how they took three days to fill the order, and then find out why it took the extra time to find it’s way to the shipping address. Yes, I am subtracting Thanksgiving and Sunday, but still, when it is implied I will get it by day 4 and I won’t receive it until day 8 (assuming I get it then) there is something very wrong. Amazon doesn’t seem to give a phone number or any other way to complain. How do I go about this?
I have only used Amazon.ca but their customer service has always replied to my emails. Go to the customer service/help section and mail them and I’m sure you’ll get a response.
There’s a place on the site for this type of query. You have to quote the reference number. I had a similar problem recently and they replied promptly, and upon discovering that the item had been lost in the post after having been despatched, they sent me a replacement for no charge. I thought that was pretty good myself.
This Amazon’s phone number:
1-800-201-7575.
And the service is usually pretty good there (probably because they never get any calls because they make the number damn near impossible to find.)
I’m an idiot, but what does the thread title mean?
Gah. Never mind. I figured it out.
Screwed, I assume, although why it’s ** out, I have no clue.
Scraped?
Yeah…I’m not used to that being treated as profanity, so I thought the title must have held some obscenity I had never heard of. Prolly not, though.
So they’re only running a day behind on their order fulfillment? Considering the fact that <Winter holiday of your choice> is right around the corner, I’d say that an extra day to ship isn’t that bad.
UPS, on the other hand, is (according to the dates you’ve given) going to take five days to complete an order that was supposed to be shipped in two. Sounds to me like you were screwed by UPS, not Amazon.
Bah. you’re lucky. My Ipod is taking eleven days to deliver. I also get it on monday. WTF.
There’s no screwing at all going on as far as I can see. UPS Second Day service only operates on business days. If the item was shipped on the 24th, then allowing for Thanksgiving and the weekend, the 29th is the second business day after the ship date. Similarly, if you place an order from Amazon on a Sunday, as the OP did, you can’t expect it to be processed until Monday. So it seems to me that shipping on the following Wednesday is within the promised “1-2 days.” In addition, Amazon displays an estimated shipping date on the shopping cart form before you finalize your order, so this shouldn’t have come as a surprise to the OP. (To see how Amazon is doing, what with the holidays getting into gear, I just placed a book that is supposed to ship in 24 hours in my shopping cart. They gave an estimated ship date of December 1-3, so it looks like they are running behind, but they do let you know it up front. I didn’t actually have to order the book.)
