scrambled eggs - with ketchup or not?

My dad ate his eggs w/ketchup, but the idea never took hold with me. I usually prefer my eggs scrambled or over-easy with salt and pepper and some Tabasco, but sometimes I get a wild hair to make an omelette with sour cream, pepper jack cheese, crumbled tortilla chips, bell pepper and onion in the middle and finished with a dollop of fresh salsa on top. Damn, I’m hungry now…

Every month when this question gets re-asked, I get re-nauseated. You people who put catsup on eggs are all mentally disturbed. Here’s to hoping that GW Bush’s first executive order is to require the mandatory sterilization of people who put catsup on eggs.

Hubby uses A-1, and it sends the kids out of the room.
I guess young people can smell vinegar more than adults.

I’ll have to agree with magdalene. Salsa on eggs is great. If no salsa available, then go to the tabasco sauce.

But never ketchup.

Never.

I am mentally disturbed. I’ve known that for years.

And I’m already sterilized.

Another fervent vote for Tabasco; wonderful stuff, the condiment of the gods. Even the jalepeno variety is sublime, though admittedly the green looks a tad peculiar on eggs.

Or salsa and grated cheese–w/ Tabasco sprinkled atop.

My suggestion: try some steak sauce. It’s the first step away from the sweetness of ketchup. Then before you know it, you’ll find yourself craving, lusting for the ultimate: Tabasco.

If eating scrambled eggs, with toast, bacon, whatever, no, I do not eat them with ketchup.

However, if I am having a scrambled egg sandwich, then ketchup is a must. Two slices of toast, 2 scrambled eggs, salt n pepper, and about 4 Tb of Heinz ketchup. Yum yum yum.

Ketchup and scrambled eggs?? You are sick, sick people.

You needed weird food preference to figure that out?

mmmmm ketchup on eggs is good stuff, but I also splash a little tabasco on 'em for a little kick. Grape jelly is good, too. The trick is to put it on when the eggs are really hot, so the jelly melts. It turns the eggs into a really gross looking purple and yellow soup. Yummy!!!

ketchup+eggs=yummy

salsa is much better, but ketchup and eggs bring me back to my childhookd.

Now tartar sauce on french fries, that’s some good eatin’. Hell, tartar sauce on anything. Mayhaps I’ll try it on some scrambled eggs. Nah, scrambled eggs are nasty. I’ll just make a tartar sauce omelette.

Well, dammit, now you tell me!

Another vote for Tabasco. My mother likes ketchup on her scrambled eggs, but I prefer Tabasco.

Since I can now only order the cholesterol-free kind of scrambled eggs, I’ll take any extra flavoring so they don’t have to compete with my sense that they aren’t “real”.
It’s all in my head, I’m sure, but I always eat with my head attached.

Catsup (or ketchup as some uneducated, redneck heathens prefer) is a vile, witch’s brew concoction that has insured the inventor a special place in the deeper regions of hell. The only positive use of catsup is to cover the flavor of even less pleasant foods, such as a festering pile of rotting rat dung, which you are somehow forced to eat, since it completely overpowers the flavor of food it touches like a malignant virus.

Even Cecil (sort of) agrees with me:

I’m always catching hell from people about ketchup on my eggs. I like bacon, egg & cheese sandwiches, and ketchup is just a natural. Also works with potatoes and eggs, with onions, mmmm.

Okay, this is my first post. Seems a safe enough subject to cut my little baby teeth on… But there’s one yummy sauce that I haven’t seen yet - BBQ sauce. Yes, on the scrambled eggs! If there’s no Tabasco, go for the BBQ. Try it before you burn me…

Corn Beef Hash, thats all that goes with scrambled eggs.

Salsa. Preferably my late MIL’s homemade salsa.

My wife uses ketchup, never understood that - too sweet.

Ideally, on toast, smothered with dried beef gravy ala Jeff Smith.

Already had the Big Snip, but Dubya ain’t gettin near what’s left.

Please tell me you’re joking about the jelly. I think I’m gonna throw up.
