scrambled eggs - with ketchup or not?

All my friends and I eat it with ketchup. It’s just the right way to do it. But when I went to camp (and it was around here too) I was the ONLY one. Everyone made fun of me! So - do you eat them with ketchup? or not?

Absolutely, with ketchup. They’re better that way.

Saint Zero eats them with A-1 sauce. I can’t understand that one. ewww!

Ketchup is disgusting on anything that doesn’t involve a potato.

Robin

What’s wrong with A-1? They taste bad with ketchup.

Not ketchup. Salsa.

Ick. I like ketchup on fried potatos and sometimes on meatloaf. However, I usually don’t use ketchup in my meatloaf, I use steak sauce (A1) instead. MMMMMmmmmmmMMMM! Try it!

If you’re out of grade school, you shouldn’t be eating ketchup on your scrambled eggs. And if you’re still in grade school, you shouldn’t be reading the Straight Dope!

[sub]FIRST, FORGIVE THE CRAPPY LISTING, I’M WORKING ON IT[/SUB]

Please try this simple experiment.

  1. Make Scrambled Eggs from my recipe thread.

  2. Top them with a select group of flavorings:
[li]Salt and fresh ground pepper, only[/li]
    [li]Heinz Ketchup, only[/li]
    [li]Your favorite sauce, only[/li]
3. Eat each of these different topping combinations on the following substrates:
[li]By themselves, on a plate[/li]
[li]On properly buttered toast, only[/li]
[li]With your favorite bun or biscuit, only[/li]I would think that you will quickly find that scrambled eggs on toast, or by themselves, demand certain restraints in their combined consumption.

For me the combinations are few:

  1. With salt and fresh ground pepper on buttered toast

  2. With Heinz Ketchup by themselves, ocassionally

Topped with snipped chives, separately with soy sauce or having them on buttered English muffins fit in there too.

Good. That leaves plenty of Tobasco for me!

Ketchup goes with everything, not just boring ol’ potatoes.

Ice cream, cereal.

Those are, I believe, the only two things in the universe I wouldn’t put ketchup on. Everything else is fair game. Ketchup = good.

Ick, ptooooie.

I hate any combination of eggs and tomatoes, plus I don’t like ketchup. So perhaps I’m biased.

LOTS of cheese, that’s the only way to eat scrambled eggs, for me. On toast. With alot of butter.

I’m getting hungry, now…

On toast and smoked salmon, topped with chives, black pepper and caviar.

scrambled eggs with ketchup is the only way to go when I actually feel like eating for a change:)

Tabasco® brand Louisiana pepper sauce. And salt and pepper.

BTW: One of the McIlhennys (makers of Tabasco®) was in my friend’s film Zombie! vs. Mardi Gras (called the “Worst film ever made”! :D) as a corrupt cop.

hp.

mmmmmm, hp!
I like Chef’s sauce too but not on eggs.
Eggs get cheese, mushrooms sauteed in a little butter and wine, and chives

God no! Scrambled eggs are icky enough by themselves. They don’t need amything to help make them worse. Ketchup belongs on hamburgers and french fries, and that is it.

I use teriyaki sauce on meatloaf. Yum!

Robin

maybe it’s a regional thing? I’m from New Jersey. (and i AM out of grade school.
If you think ketchup and eggs is bad, my brothers eat it with steak and turkey too. ewww.

Ketchup on eggs: BAD

Salsa on eggs: Good if with cheese and other stuff in a tortilla

My father-in-law’s ketchup on french toast: Bleah!
