Scrapbookers - recommend me a magazine

My cousin really enjoys scrapbooking, and I would like to buy her a magazine subscription for her birthday. However, I don’t scrap myself, and don’t know which title would be the best. Which scrapbooking magazines are the best (ie, not just ads)?

My wife likes Creating Keepsakes

Since this is more seeking information than a poll it would be better suited to Cafe Society. I’ll move it on over for you.

First, find out if she has any subscriptions already.

If she’s been scrapping for a while and likes to do artsy things that take a long time, Creating Keepsakes is the leader in the field. They publish 12 times a year.

Simple Scrapbooks is CK’s sister publication, and focuses more on quick, simple designs and on theme albums. I would definitely recommend it for beginners. It has 6 issues a year.

PaperKuts also comes out 6 times a year, I think, and is probably comparable to the other two, but maybe a little more “cutesy”. It’s been a while since I looked at a copy.

Memory Makers has been the underdog for a while, but I hear they’re getting better.

Better Homes & Gardens’ Scrapbooks Etc. usually has a good all-around assortment of the trendy and the classic.

They all have ads, but all have good layouts and technique articles as well. You can also get special edition idea books, some of which have ads and some don’t.

(I’ve been published in Creating Keepsakes and Simple Scrapbooks quite a few times! )

Listen to Helena. She’s a scrapbooking guru, published and everything, and even a bit of a celebrity on the scrapping boards.

I like Simple Scrapbooks, but it all depends on the scrapper’s style.

Hi CairaJade! waving

Oh, I must clarify–I didn’t mean I would recommend Simple Scrapbooks only for beginners. It’s good for beginners but I still get a lot out of it!

Another vote to trust Helena. She rocks in the scrappin’ world!
