The only thing left to be decided is to what extent the non-vanilla among us should claim. OAOW has given what appears to be a full claim. Tiltawhirl has not. Should she tell us the rest? I’m too sleepy to think, just offering it for comments.
It isn’t so straightforward for me. In post #2010, Tom Scud said:
It doesn’t match…that’s why I asked you exactly what it said. I’m not yet convinced that the two of you aren’t a couple of scum buddies colluding to try to confirm each other. Which one of you is lying about what the Music Box recording said?
I’d prefer the claim order be somehow tied to an independently verifiable random event (like the score of a football game, as has been mentioned).
I don’t trust you enough to count on your order being truly random.
In fact, I don’t trust any of you much anymore.
Elect USCDiver
Just to be on the safe side:
Mods, was there any… um… degradation in the Music Box recording as it made it’s way from Tom’s house to Orediggers?
Leader Count:
Drain Bead (3): Tom Scud, Guiri, OaOW
Tom Scud (4): Digger, Tilty, Norma, DB
USCD (1): USCD
No comment.
However, when it comes to PMs from the mods, remember–I know all about handshaking, and I absolutely detest it.
True, but in this case, the use of the Music box in the game is essentially a designed handshake mechanism!
OAOW, when you get a chance, can you tell us what prompted you to choose each of those you chose to investigate, and how you interpret “nothing”?
@ Drain, which ofthe 4 vanilla roles did you get?
@ OaOW, can you tell us why you chose to investigate these players on these Days?
@ USC, of the two main candidates for leader, which would you prefer?
Miner.
OK, thanks. I thought that maybe one of us had been given the role of “child of a miner” and if so, there would be a small hole in OaOW’s claim - the second child should have been ineligible for leader too based on the color in his role PM…
As it stands, with no other children among us, the claim seems plausible although the fact that he investigated 4 of the remaining 9 (or 5 of 12 yesterDay) players is quite a coincidence. Also the fact that the 5 players all seem(ed) townie to me is the main reason I’d like to hear his reasoning.
As I mentioned a long time ago, in the film the type 4 screamer is a small child who apparently survived a nuclear explosion and lives off what he can scavenge. Not the same story as the color in OaOW’s PM and a 3rd investigative scum role makes the scenario even less likelly…
Yeah, if OAOW is Scum, it’s pretty certain he’s making the whole thing up out of whole cloth. Which is why I’d like to hear his reasoning on the whole thing.
Diver, are you going to claim, not claim, hold out for randomness based on a football game today, or what?
I’m going out now, will probably not be back until tomorrow morning.
If someone tells me how to do randomness based on a football game, I’ll do it based on the 1:00 Bengals game score. I just really don’t know how to set up that scenario.
Maybe some of our programmer types know where you can use a number like that as a random seed. Easiest way I can think of is to just use the order that you already generated, and set the first person by going one down the list for every point the Bengals score; that is, if they score 0, then it’s as you submitted originally; if they scored 1 (which is impossible but whatever), you start with Normal Phase, 2 yous tart with AllWalker, 3 with Oredigger, 4 you loop back and start with USCDiver, et cetera.
Another way to use a single game would be assigning each one of us a quarter and using the last digit of the combinded score from each quarter as our order number with any ties settled by the home team’s last digit.
For instance if the score goes: Q1 h:7 a: 7 Q2 h: 10 a: 7 Q3 h: 10 a:21 Q4 h: 17 a: 21. Then who ever you asignex the first quarter would get a 4 the second quarter would get a 7 the third quarter a 1 and the fourth quarter an 8 so the reviel would go Q3, Q1, Q2, Q4. It’s a bit more work then random.org but at least we can verify there is no manipulation.
I’ll do this. Alphabetical seeding.
Allwalker gets Q1
Normal Phase gets Q2
Oredigger gets Q3
USCDiver gets Q4
NETA: If the last digit of the combined score is 0, that counts as an actual 0, not a 10.
Score at the end of Q1 is Bengals 14, Ravens 0.
Allwalker’s number is 4.
Both Normal Phase and Oredigger have 7, and the tiebreaker under the stated rules doesn’t help.
If nobody objects, I’m just going to keep that one alphabetical, so Normal will go before Oredigger in the final listing.
Thankfully the Ravens just scored, so hopefully that’ll be the only tie.
It’s irrelevant but I don’t have a preference.
Thanks for introducing some verifiability. Let me know the final claim ordering.
I’m back. It wound up 17-7 (sum 24, lower priority than the AllWalker 4). So it should be
– AllWalker
– USCDiver
– Normal Phase
– Oredigger
