Screamers Mafia

What a monster of a Day. At this point, I’m sufficiently happy with where my vote is that I’m unlikely to move it. Or to put it another way, I’m not sufficiently convinced that there’s anywhere better to put it. We’ve devolved to lynch-the-lurker which is probably good policy as a general rule in that it discourages lurking but won’t necessarily generate a huge amount of info at Day’s end.

I’m intrigued by the Bling Collective - there clearly does seem to be some commonality of shininess across role PMs, which has me leaning town for jpei and Boozy. If we get more info on what berynium is or does or means, then we’ll better able to evaluate that. I’m not at all convinced that it makes the player a Miller, however - that seems like a leap of imagination on jpei’s part.

On peeker, I have to be honest with myself and say that it’s less a question of believing his Doc claim than of not wanting to risk it. There are various other people of interest, but at this point I plan to wait out the Day/Night and see what we learn from lynch and NK role-flips. (Unless, of course, Bill turns up with a role-claim, but he’d better hurry if that’s his plan.)

It wasn’t so baseless, Chronos had just put a FOS on anyone who dared change their vote over the weekend in light of Jpei’s claim and subsequent events. I was one of a number who had unvoted and was (and still am) trying to decide where to put my vote without joining the LtL bandwagon, why would I deserve a FOS for reconsidering my vote? The comment seemed like a scum ploy to get one of the 4 vote leaders lynched quickly so night could begin.

But yes, a really outrageous smudge.

Will keep my head down - I don’t deserve suspicion but understand that my recent posts may have put my in the wrong light.

I prefer Oredigger’s reasoning on ColdPhoenix as a lurker than the BillMC argument. Another reason is that ColdPhoenix also had the dangerous idea of proposing that the second Doc expose him/herself by confirming or denying Peeker’s claim.

Vote ColdPhoenix

jpei (1): Freudian Slit
peekercpa(3): Gryph, Boozahol Squid, PI, Cold Phoenix
Drain Bead (2): USCDriver, CatInASuit
Bill MC(8): Jimmy Chitwood, Drain Bead, tiltawhirl, Alka Seltzer, Daphne Black, Allwalker, Texcat, jpei (Leader)
Boozahol Squid, PI(3): Bill MC, Thing Fish, Chronos
CatInASuit (2): amrussell, Tom Scud
Cold Phoenix (1): Oredigger
Tom Scud(1): Peeker
Chronos(2): Normal Phase, Guiri

Day ends around 2:20 or so, depending on my availability.

While its kind of academic at this point, I am standing pat on my BillMC vote because the peeker and jpei situations are evolving rapidly. We’ll have more information toMorrow. Drain Bead bears watching, but she’s giving town plenty to work with.

I am going to FOS Chronos because he seems to be really pushing an agenda not supported by town. I agree that he has been obsessing on OaOW’s role to the near-exclusion of other concerns, and wanted a quick vote from jpei to start the countdown without considering the implications of jpei’s role reveal.

@** Gueri:** Eh, after re-reading the relevant interactions, I guess you have a point. I will downgrade from “baseless accusation” to “overly aggressive”. But don’t keep your head down to avoid suspicion, nothing looks more suspicious than that;).

BTW, it appears that your vote for ColdPhoenix (which I agree seems better supported than a **BillMC **vote) hasn’t been counted. Did you forget to unvote before voting?

Believe me, although I was tempted too, I don’t recall ever actually voting for Chronos - did I? Can’t find post but just in case:

Unvote
Vote ColdPhoenix

P.S. Head up again - thanks for the warning.

Long time ago, just remember to watch out for wounded soldiers asking for help, young kids who’ve apparently survived a nuclear holocaust and cute teddy bears that move. The screamers developed from sword-weilding robots into almost fully functional humans - they’ll even cut the face off a real human to impersonate them. Cite - Wikipedia.

Quoth Alka Seltzer:

And they had all day Friday to do that, which I thought would be enough time. And those folks who aren’t on on the weekend really haven’t had much more time to consider it than they would have with a weekend Dusk.

As for Guiri’s “itching for night-kill” smudge, I figured that the best response to that was just to ignore it. Obviously, there are other possible reasons for wanting this day to just end already, like wanting to get on with the game. Honestly, is there anyone here who doesn’t think Day 1 went inordinately long?

I’m really surprised Bill hasn’t been by to roleclaim yet.

All right, re-reading peeker’s posts. I’m only up to post 350 or so, but I think I finally see why he was getting the votes. Since I’m running out of time in the day, I’ll just post what I have so far.

OK let me think about this. Tom gives a little account of how many mis-lynches we may have; his calculations assume no third parties. He includes the phrase, “all else being equal, which of course it won’t be.”

Peeker objects, in post #271, and I think we may both have misunderstood each other subsequently. In #279 I respond to peeker’s post, saying the only “bad guy” motivation for Tom’s post I could think of would be an effect of PIS: Tom is 3rd party, doesn’t want to reveal his knowledge of that, so writes a post deliberately omitting 3rd parties from consideration, only tacking on the above-quoted phrase in a clumsy attempt to play both sides of the fence while still leaving the overall impression that he’s not overly focused on 3rd parties. I dismiss this from consideration in that post, saying it doesn’t seem like something Tom would do; peeker takes that (post #353) as support for his position (perhaps misinterpreting the phrase “it doesn’t seem like him”), which annoyed me.

At first I thought that peeker’s objection to Tom’s post was exactly what I meant to dismiss in #279, but on re-read it looks like I was wrong, and what actually prompted peeker’s posts was the phrase “all else being equal, which of course it won’t be” in itself, taking this phrase itself as PIS that Tom knew of the existence of third parties. I find this a less explicable position than my original interpretation (even though I discounted that one as well). I can’t quite see how I missed it (he comes right out and says so in #301), but was that whole kerfuffle really started over such a pro forma throwaway phrase? Peeker, do you really think that was PIS? I absolutely cannot see it as significant, and that’s putting peeker in a much worse light for me. Such a huge amount of noise raised over so little.

Moving on, in #312 peeker votes Tom.

(314 Tom defends himself against what I think was the wrong charge, not that I’m in any position to blame him, given my own misunderstanding.
318 Chronos FOSes peeker using the same reasoning as Tom just did.)

326 peeker is now using the same reasoning I originally did. I think this is interesting, because while I obviously find the reasoning … reasonable, for lack of a better word, it does not appear to be what peeker’s first objection was based on. If it was, his posts don’t support that conclusion being made.

336 – peeker is back to talking about inconsistencies, which is sort of the beside the point of my own analysis – he really is giving the impression of being all over the place.

And that’s as far as I got.

Sounds like a good setup for a godfather, that last bit does. Something to keep in mind, anyway.

For what it’s worth, I don’t think it’s a good idea to try to give peeker a witch trial by vig. Whether or not the vig is successful doesn’t turn on whether or not he’s scum; it turns on whether or not he’s a doctor with the ability to self-protect. I’d rather we keep him alive and just pay attention, since he can’t exactly hide from here on out.

Why would he be by to role claim? I think he is genuinely absent which is why voting for him is a bad idea it would be better to get him subbed and vote for a lurker who is actually reading along.

Yeah, when I voted for him it was for a really, really bad vote on his part. But since then, it’s switched to Lynch the Lurker, which I generally believe to be a horrid idea on Day One because you learn very little. Bah.

Also, it should be end-of-Day by now…should we still be talking?

I figure we’re good until Mahaloth shuts us down but there really isn’t much to talk about.

As may have been previously noted, color is just color.

The sun lingered in the sky. Truly, it must have been the longest day of the year.

The crowd argued amongst themselves, trying to determine a way to test their selected “lynchee”, as they called. Some thought about testing the pH of the blood, while others thought it might be a good idea just to examine his eyes closely.

Eventually, it was agreed so simply “cut ‘im and see if he bleeds,” as it had been put by someone.

“Who should do it then?” asked a few people.

Jpei stepped forward and said, “Well, I’m not doing it, that’s for sure. I might have been the leader, but that didn’t include killing and slicing anyone. I’m sure of that.”

A ragged knife was passed around, person to person, no one really wanting it. In the end, it was decided that AllWalker would do the testing.

“After all, he was our ‘chosen’ leader, so to speak,” said someone.

AllWalker took the knife.

“Step back, everyone, this could actually get a bit messy.”

He stabbed the knife into the middle of BillMC’s chest. Blood spurted out, covering just about everyone in the area.

“Erm…not to be critical or anything”, muttered Tom Scud, “but couldn’t you have just, like, chopped off an arm?”

Allwalker looked embarrased. “Oh yeah. Oops.”

BillMC was an ordinary Citizen (Vanilla Town)
