Somewhat related: I was raised in Ohio and we had a baby preacher like this boy. His name was David Shedlock. I remember looking him up some years ago and he had become a radical anti-abortion protestor. I imagine most children raised in such a particular way develop similarly, or return to that route after… straying a while.
I actually found Duffy’s & his sister’s FB pages a while back. There was nothing there about his time of fame but nothing here said conflicts with it & his occupation is consistent. I thought about mentioning it here but decided that it would violate his privacy since he was not making a thing about his past fame.

That’s part of the dilemma. The proof that validates his identity is also easily discoverable by any imposter willing to do a little web research.
The mods may be able to verify identity to a certain extent (email address) but even those can be faked. For that reason I doubt if any board officials would provide any police action other than their normal duties of clearing out trolls.
So belief in any poster’s claim of real life identity has to be determined by (lack of) faith.

I’d advise trying not to take it personally. You have to realize that there are people out there who would claim to be someone else and post something just to get a reaction. It’s a big world out there, and although jerks like that are fairly rare, there are probably hundreds of them, and only one Duffy. When someone posts claiming to be Duffy, people will try to figure the odds for whether it’s one of those jerks or the real Duffy.
I happen to think that it’s very likely that you’re the genuine article, but it’s understandable that others may reach a different first impression.
The best way to handle it is to understand why some people may have their guards up, and to simply provide sincere posts here. The fact that your posts so far don’t seem to be inflammatory or attention-seeking makes me think that it’s probably really you and not someone trying to get a rise out of others.
