My opinions on the Iraq situation are based almost solely on reading various articles and, of course, watching news on TV. I don’t know how else I can gather facts on the matter, other than becoming a high-ranking politician.
Allegedly, France, Russia, Germany, and China all do billions of dollars worth of business every year. Germany is suspected of selling banned equipment to Iraq.
This stuff is all over the news…I’d have a hard time believing all of it is false.
Has anyone considered the possibility that “Clint in Wichita” may just be someone who doesn’t like America and wants to reinforce the “dumb boorish ugly American” stereotype?
Yeah, that thought did cross my mind too. I post on another board where that happens a lot. However, it’s been my experience that most trolls who do that sort of thing have trouble faking American English, and Clint sounds like a genuine American. Regardless, Clint, your posts reinforce pretty much every conceivable ugly stereotype about Americans, so if you geniunely don’t like to see your country criticized, you might stop giving people ammo.
BTW, I’m off to Amsterdam for the first time on Saturday, so I’m glad to see it’s getting such brilliant reviews
I’m not sure because I’m still figuring out where else I want to go, but definitely the 2nd through 5th, and probably another day or two before I fly out on the 18th. Sure, I’d love a tour guide for a night if any of those dates work.
What the fuck is with this attitude? Isn’t it possible at all to give Clint the well-deserved smackdown he needs without bashing Kansas? Do you even really know anything about actually living in my State?
Why is anyone surprised at Clint being a zenophobic fuck? This is the same asshole who justified the killing of palestian children with the comment that “nits make lice”.
I can only imagine how bad an experience one can have whilst hitching. I have everything but sympathy for you, and anything you suffered. I am profoundly sorry for any hurt you have had here.
But, with all due respect to you, is that the fault of Kansas? Or the people (in general usage of the term) who live here? Hasn’t much of this thread been fighting the very attitude that a country and a people are not defined by a few stereotypes and bad apples in the bunch?
My point, dear gobear, is how can Clint be decried for bashing France, while Kansas, the State and the people who live there, is bashed as well?
Am I misunderstanding things here? Is it really OK now that we’ve reached the latter pages of the thread to make fun of some cultures, peoples, and lands, so long as they are “funny” or “different”? And I’m the only one who cares about the inequity here? Didn’t the piece I wrote back on page 4 (or whatever) apply to more than one place?
That’s why I’m posting. Like the Lorax who speaks up for the trees, I guess it’s my job to speak up for Kansas.
Holy shit, that’s not what I meant! I meant that I have nothing but sympathy for gobear. Jesus Christ, I’m just glad he’s a person who doesn’t assume I mean ill of him. Sorry gobear!
