I opted to get Browser’s Inside Story. I really wanted this game, but I have a feeling it’s going to have a tweaked and more robust sequel, of which I would be willing to wait for.
Much more efficient: Make a machine, or some other electrical device, and drop it in the water near the shark. BAM! Instant electrocution, even with something as small as a battery!
Forget that, my solution was to
Stand in the spot where the starite appears then detonate a nuke. Everything was obliterated, but not before my lifeless body touched the starite giving me the win:)
“Depth charge” works.
Try using “nuke” then activating it.
I saw this at PAX and totally ignored every other game in the showroom. The tornado stage stopped everyone in their tracks, and I still have no idea how I would solve it.
I was amazed ANTI-TORNADO was a valid input. But it didn’t work; it was probably my inability to place the anti-tornado (which was a regular tornado except upside down) properly to cancel out the regular tornado.
The tornado is actually kind of a “trick” level.
It doesn’t actually hurt you at all. If you get the timing right, you can just walk into it and it will spit you out the other side, no need to even write anything. Though for ufnm you can always ride a cow through it.
Regarding the Tornado…
How I did it was to drop a bomb shelter in the path of the tornado, hide in it, and wait for the tornado to pass. Although I can’t imagine how else to do it!
Shrink ray?
And once again I regret having gotten rid of my DS.
Why would you do a thing like that? I even upgraded to the DSi for the internal web browser. (Surprisingly handy.)
My solution was more roundabout. I figured dropping a cow into a tornado would do something hilarious, but it was pretty tame. So I mounted the cow and rode it into the tornado, somewhat stumblingly. Eventually the weight of me+cow managed to get us flung into a catch in the ceiling, so the cow and I prevailed.
Man oh man I love this game.
Anyone messing around with the level editor yet? I set up an amazing one with a bunch of springs and conveyor belts that just goes bonkers the second the level starts. Also, one with Cthulu guarding the starite, which is roped to a pulley that goes to an anvil that goes into shark-infested water (for the hell of it).
Bad news, I just found out that a knight on horseback wielding Excalibur does not, in fact, defeat a dragon.
On a more positive note, there’s a fun way to kill basically anything in water. Think bathroom appliances…
Gluing cats to huge boulders for fun and profit (and starites)!
I must say, I’ve played for maybe 5+ hours already, and the controls still suck jesus balls. I keep missing small objects, which causes Maxwell to just sprint haphazardly in that direction, often into an immediate death, sometimes after I was just one thing away from completing the level. GRR! I wish there was at least an option for D-pad control.
Does anyone know how to reverse the direction of an object? For instance, I write fan, a fan (appliance) appears, but is facing the wrong way. Did I miss this in the tutorial?
Shoulder buttons
So after reading this Penny Arcade, what happens if you write “Starite”?
I do not have a DS so I can’t try it myself.
