Scrubs is back tonight!

Did anyone check out the top ten winners of the Name Turk and Carla’s baby contest?

Typical of the list was Curk

My suggestion was James Tiberius Turk. Just seeing Turk and JD getting that by Carla would be great.

In a similar vein (well, maybe not) I just saw the episode again where each of the new interns (JD, Turk, and Elliot) loses a patient, and the song “Hallelujah” plays over them at the end. It was so beautiful that I immediately went to I-Tunes and downloaded it.

They used that song on an episode of West Wing too.

I thought JD explaining how he got Kim pregnant without actually having sex was hilarious. And what is up with John McGinley’s hair? My son said it looked like he ran into Shirley Temple.

Cox’s hair has pretty much always looked like the varying stages of a poodle. I guess now he’s letting it grow out.

I felt Turk’s pain when he wanted to laugh his ass off about the “air strike” but Carla wouldn’t let him…

From Shrek also. Which is what made me go download it!
Great open to a new season. I wonder if they will try and pull the multiple babies at the same time show?

The Todd’s explanation of the Carrying Underwood was AWESOME!

How is it that JD manages to get all the hot girls? Around here, most Emos get the shy waifish girls.

How sad is that!

I am calling the “airstrike” the Emaculate Reception.

This episode was a little off. But last season started off a little slow and was one of the best seasons ever.

I am optimistic that we will have a great year (likely the last).

I’m catching some of the earlier episodes and The Todd has definitely devolved into this one-note chauvinist pig. I really wish they’d flesh him out some more. He could be a really good foil for Turk as they both try to beat each other in the surgery game.

One of the great Leonard Cohen compositions… Besides Shrek, The West Wing and Scrubs the song has been used in: When Night is Falling, A Perfect Candidate, Basquiat, Without a Trace, LAX, House M.D., Lord of War and, most recently, Deliver Us From Evil. By the way if you’ve not seen the last two movies on this list, put them in your Netflix queue now… along with Leonard Cohen: I’m Your Man.

That song transfixes me. Such a beautiful, soaring melody…I’m impaled on its beauty.

There are multiple versions of “Hallelujah,” though. Leonard Cohen wrote it, but I think he’s a much better songwriter than he is a singer. Rufus Wainwright recorded it too, but I think the most beautiful version, the one everyone hears in soundtracks, is by the late Jeff Buckley. It might be worth comparing the different versions, though.

Wainwright ruined it, because his version is bouncy and upbeat. Buckley’s is haunting and tragic, as it should be.

I feel proud of myself, because I realized the actors playing the patients JD, Cox, and The Janitor were talking too were the same actors as JD, Cox, and The Janitor before they did the big reveal.

“I was always trying to get that JD.”

I figured that out too, but it took me a bit to see Faux JD, since they showed “her” rather quickly. I did catch that “she” didn’t look right, and Ivylad said “That’s a guy.”

When I tumbled to the Janitor and Cox, I saw that she was JD.

I downloaded the Buckley version, which is the one heard on Scrubs.

Is that the same one they used on West Wing?

I think the one on Scrubs was the John Cale version.
