Scrubsville - Open Spoilers [Edited Title]

I was a bit disappointed myself. It reminded me of the movie ‘Parenthood’; have a baby and everyone will love you and everything will be okay! They could turn it around though, but yeah, they’re going soft.

I think JD dismissed adoption with a joke, and resisted the abortion discussion, because he really does want to have a child. Remember, he broke up with that one girl because she indicated she never wanted to have a house and a family, and he realized he didn’t want to be with somebody who didn’t share his own goals in life. I think he was avoiding say that out loud because he didn’t want to put Kim on the spot, if she didn’t want to keep the baby.

I thought seeing the baby is what did it. The damned things are contagious; we’re designed to react that way. If they were closer to it they’d’ve picked up Baby Smell and even if whatever her name is weren’t already pregnant they’d have to run off to a spare room and start making one, not just practice.

I think you interpreted it right. Healthy baby, proud parents, supportive friends gathered around – it’s emotionally very compelling.

I used to love this show, but C’MON! How many times do new parents have their co-workers stand around, smile and applaud when they bring out the baby? I worked in a hospital for 5+ years, and I can’t recall standing around in a group, smiling and applauding for one single co-worker.

On the plus side, Dr. Cox was wearing a Cheli’s Chili Bar t-shirt throughout the entire episode, which earned the show a few points in my book.

Happy

Good call, this is definitely it. The clumsy chick was played by Mandy Moore, who knocked it out of the park when she face-planted the table on their first date. (She tried to rest her head on her hand but missed.)

It was a multi-episode storyline centered entirely around JD trying not to move too fast and failing miserably. Within the first week of their relationship they bought property together. It ended shortly thereafter when they were sitting on a couch and JD proclaimed his desire to get a house with a fence and raise kids. Mandy gets a concerned look, and reminds him that she’s only 23 and isn’t looking for that kind of commitment. Relationship over.

This new chick (the Comedy Central syndicated run is about to get to her introduction) is JD’s next relationship. It’s easy to conclude that JD views the immaculate conception as providence, and that’s why he dismissed adoption out of hand and was unwilling to encourage her to get an abortion.

The new run of Degrassi also had an abortion a few years ago… I’ve only ever watched a couple of episodes, so I don’t know how the show dealt with it.

The episode where we met her was aired yesterday. It’s funny that several people (myself included) couldn’t remember who she was or how she was introduced.

The penultimate episode last season starts with JD walking up to her and Turk. As Turk is saying “JD, I’m sure you know…” JD interupts with “Welcome to Sacred Heart. Turk, aren’t you going to introduce us?”

Then we find out that she’s been at the hospital for 5 years, and she’s been in all the scenes with JD. (Cut to montage of past scenes with her inserted.) Only, JD couldn’t see her because she was wearing a wedding ring.

Then Turk has all the married women take off their wedding rings, and a dozen girls spring into existance out of thin air. Including Gift Shop Girl. “I thought you died! I sent your family flowers…” “I know, you bought them from me. It was awkward.”

Cut to the title sequence, only the new girl interupts the Superman song to flip the backwards X-ray, saying that it’s been bugging her for years.

heh.

Yeah, but it was a bogus Detroit corporate version. He might as well have been wearing a TGI Fridays shirt. This is the only one worth noting.

Wow, when did this show get so serious? I watched season 1 and it was mostly JD and the Janitor making fun of each other, it was great! Now… parenthood ain’t exactly comedy material.
shivers at the thought of children and their grubby little paws

I watched it too, but here’s what I want to know: how did she get pregnant in the first place? Are we sure the old gay men aren’t involved somehow?

It was explained in a very funny scene in the premier. Basically, there was no penetration, as JD “anticipated” things and there was some “friendly fire” near the “airstrike zone.”

I’m a little confused. I seem to recall that part of J.D.'s frustration with the relationship is that there was no sex, yet. So when the girl announced her pregnancy, I assumed that meant that someone other than J.D. was the father, and that this would be a significant factor in the ensuing events. Am I missing something?

You can get pregnant without penetration, if a man prematurely ejaculates close enough to the vagina. It’s rare, but it happens.

Ah. I missed the first couple of minutes of the season debut, since I’m not used to being home on Thursday nights.

I guess I missed that too.

That’s what he said. Rim shot Second rim shot because ‘rim shot’ is also a pun

I’m done.

I’m guessing it was one Cheli gave him since they are neighbors.

I was hoping they’d do the right (and realisitc) thing and write in the abortion. I am so disappointed.

They still might.
