We lost 2 - 1, but the team is strong enough to make it to the quarter finals.
And I am fuming about the referee’s decisions. THe penalty kick was not correct, our free kick in the last minute should have been repeated, and Rivaldo deserved a red card because of his last second act that aimed deceiving the referee. THe addest part is, he actually {b]managed** to deceive the referee.

I thought they were supposed to be getting tough with cheating and diving. The referee’s assistant was right behind Rivaldo - so surely he could see what was going on.
I have nothing against Hakan Unsal’s second yellow card for kicking the ball hard towards Rivaldo. It was nothing but lack of maturity. However, Rivaldo’s throwing himself on the ground and covering his face because of a ball that hit him on the hip definitely deserved some serious punishment, as well.
Note to Gabby Yorath: 14 million people is not 87% of Britain’s population - not even England’s - so stop puffing up ITV’s coverage of England / Sweden.
