SDMB 2012 Postcard Exchange, Round Two!

Back in London :smack:

At least I gave the post offices of the world something to do

I got my second postcard! From Atomic Mama in Maine, a lovely view of the harbour.

So, it looks like a couple of posters are MIA; I’ve activated Emergency Protocol 17X to ensure that people who are still feverishly checking their mail boxes every couple of hours for their missing postcards will eventually be satisfied by full post-card-y goodness.

I’m pretty sure that the postcards with the difficult signatures are coming from kmshrader.

So, maybe calling it the “Summer Postcard Exchange” was a bit misplaced - next time, we’ll have to come up with a season-neutral term!

Me likey.

Confirmed, upon receipt of TD’s “plan B” card from London on Saturday.

So, so sorry! I was out of town and offline, and not only haven’t sent my postcards yet (they’re in the mailbox to go out tomorrow), but returned today to find that my wonderful postcard-senders have been worrying!

I won’t spoil the surprise, but three of you out there will get a postcard from me very soon!

Labtrash: beautiful, muted-color photo of a monument in Columbia, SC. Actually, when I look closely, the postcard itself may be very old? There’s an inked stamp over the actual part of the postcard where a stamp goes, but I can make out, “Domestic, one cent; Foreign, two cents.” Cool!

Scareyfaerie: lovely photo of a painted enamel snuff box “probably c. 1760.” Love it, and can understand how hard it sometimes is to find postcards. Luckily the place I was visiting is more touristy than my home. And now you have a museum to visit!

anya marie: Really pretty photo of a “hyacinth macaw,” who is solidly the color of, well, a hyacinth - beautiful, bright blue, except for the base of its beak and its eyes, which are bright yellow! The Fort Wayne Zoo sounds like a lot of fun!

Northern Piper, thanks for organizing, and please give me another chance! I’d like to be part of Round 3. I’m not leaving town again for weeks, and the postcards are purchased and ready to go!

Have I missed the sign up for round three? I hope not. I am having fun.

I’m in for Round Three as well.

Indeed. I’m skiing at the moment and I’ve been sizing up the postcards here at Perisher Valley for some appropriately counter-seasonal ones for round three.

I’m open to organising a Round 3 - when I suggested this weekend as the cut-off date, some of the posters requested later this month, such as September 15. That suits me. I’ll start a Round 3 page next weekend, for sign-up by September 15.

Nayna, thanks for coming back!

You are correct - all three cards this round were antiques from local shops.

They ran about $2 or $3 apiece, but it was worth it !

I received another postcard today! This one is of the Watson Drug and Soda Fountain from Algher. It took three, count them, three Aloha stamps to make it here. Three different ones, well done

And another one from Tapioca Dextrin, this one from the Netherlands, showing painted wooden shows, with the simple message: “Angola was a bust. :(”

Wahooooo! I was really worried, and too frazzled to look up what was needed.

Cheers,

-Algher

painted wooden shoes! SHOES!

I was picturing a special Blue Man Group

All mine have arrived all I know is that one is from Oklahoma City and one has a picture of “man head sculpture”

Has anyone got cards from South Africa yet?
