As of right now, Taz has Wayne and a 2 point lead on Opposites with Manning.
Jammers needs 31 points from Brees tomorrow.

This was about the best I could have asked for in terms of Brady production. Buffalo’s D was a nice decision that I am pretty happy about now.
This first round matchup should come pretty close though because Brees can easily light up the Falcons secondary for 31 points. I will be watching very closely tomorrow night.
And Colston.
I’m not worried about pulling this out.
I made all the right moves. Switched Kolby Smith for Barber and dropped Battle for Reggie Williams (granted, that was only slightly better), and I’m still gonna lose, so what can you do?
Brady is just a buzzsaw, doesn’t matter what waiver wire nonsense you pair him with, he just murders opposing fantasy teams. Getting hit by ANOTHER opposing fantasy defense was pretty frustrating. I’ll definitely be drafting a defense in the second round next year, as it is clearly the most important fantasy position. Only getting 4 points this week from my K and my Def killed me. All jokes aside, I’ll pay more attention to those positions if I play next season.
Overall, it was a good season, though. I managed my team to over achievement
I made more good moves than bad. It was fun, thanks everyone, perhaps I’ll see you all next year.
My biggest regret was not paying attention to Cotchery’s status. All season he has been very reliable and contributed significantly to my team. Naturally he decides to rack up the points in a week where I dropped him because he was supposed to be out for the season. Oh well, you live and you learn.
Next year I need a reliable, not Rudi Johnson, starting running back. When Jacobs went down early I started my wheel of running backs by trading him for Ward. Ward did very well for me while Jacobs was injured but as soon as he came back it forced me to hunt every week for someone new. Washington made the occasional surprise impact at flex due to his kick return yards but for the most part, I had gaping holes at my RB and W/R positions.
Brady and Cooley were my best moves.
For me, I ended up missing a couple key free agents by an hour or two (or in the case of Furrey this week, 30 seconds), but none of these made a significant impact on my team. Nobody I missed would have been that much better than I already had. Even when I stupidly dropped Rudi Johnson a couple weeks ago, I wouldn’t have ever started him anyway. I made some great trades, at pretty much the perfect time (and like Brees, some trades I DIDN’T make were just as important) and I’d find it hard to believe I could possibly play the trade market better than I did this year…
…except at the deadline. My biggest problem this season was I couldn’t manage to swap out one of my surplus RBs for a top WR, which I tried desperately hard to do. I knew Williams wasn’t going to be good for me (didn’t expect an injury, but his matchups in the postseason were brutal) but I just couldn’t find that top tier WR. I thought Harrison would be it, but wouldn’t you know, soon as I touch him, he’s done for the season. Glad I got rid of him, but it ended up not helping me much anyway. My team is vastly different with a top 10-15WR on it, especially this year. Funny, that. I always remember struggling without a top RB, always having the best WRs (when they were unimportant) and now that I had great RBs, it’s the season of the WR…
Now that I think about it… I wonder if I just did too much. I wonder how my team would have fared had I kept all my original players. Henry was a bit of a bust, but he was decent this week, and I certainly could have used Bowe and Curry and Roddy White… Interetsing to think about. I traded Henry right before the drug bust, I traded Johnson before he got hurt, dumped Evans before his value was nil, and Harrison the same… but still, food for thought.
Then again, this season would have been boring from week three without all the moves I made and the time I spent managing my team. So maybe it’s moot anyway.
I’m rooting for you, Esoteric, because should you lose, I have to face the most brutal fantasy matchup in the entire year. Worse than Tomlinson vs Oakland. It’s Tom Brady’s revenge game against the Jets. He doesn’t even really need a fantasy team next week, Tom Brady should put up about 130 points himself.
The rest of his matchups otherwise aren’t all that great, but Brady vs the Jets is going to be brutal. The Pats aren’t going to stop. If the weather is anything but pretty bad, they’ll put up 70.
If Gridbirds and I had to play this week, I’d have put up 129.92, with big 24+ games from Addai, Lewis, and the GB defense. Gridbirds would’ve put up 106.52.
I’m glad to see Addai get carries, I was worried about him resting the rest of the way to the playoffs. But with Pittsburgh’s loss and practically locking up the #2 seed, it still may happen. At some point in the playoffs I may get an unexpected 5 point week out of Addai and it’s going to suck.
Jamal Lewis has become a stud the last few weeks. Last 4: 137 total yards, 2 TDs. 86/1, 147/1, 122/1.
My quarterbacks both have sucked. Housh isn’t quite the stud he once was. Overall, my team isn’t peaking in the playoffs.
Score at the start of the 4th quarter:
EE - 109.32
Frosted - 112.04
Oh man are you lucky EE.
You were ahead by .13 points. The kneel counted as -1 rush yard, which put you at .03 points. 1 more kneel and you’d have lost.
I’ve never before been called lucky. It has a nice ring to it.
That was amazing. It was a great season but I guess I could only ride the Brady train for so long. Next year the key word for me is depth.
I did NOT expect to even come close that game. Not to rub it in, but Atlanta has one of the better defenses against QBs this season. On the road and against a good pass defense, and with little running game, I expected 15 points from Brees, tops.
I actually stopped watching the game several times because it was too much. Before the game I knew what Brees would likely have to do, and that even ONE interception or sack would end it. It was too stressful to watch him drop back again and again and know my season would be over with one mistake.
I was wrong to root for you, EE. Looking again at Frosted’s matchups, although Brady is going to be a monster, he doesn’t really have anything else going for him. I’d rather be facing him.
Tomorrow you will all be subjected to my excessive verbosity as I debate the nuances of my roster decisions for the playoffs.
Where will you be watching the games? I’m thinking of hitting a Browns bar now that the games are really starting to count.
I’m regretting that one now, not that it had any influence on anything.
Most of my decisions are easy, but I’m actually waffling on my defense, and my kicker of all things. I have this nagging feeling that I should pick up Rian Lindell as he’s gonna score like 12+ points, but Hanson is a solid matchup and a productive scorer.
Addai scares me. Nagging injuries, Indy having a pretty solid position on the #2 seed, their willingness to RBBC when not in ideal situations for Addai… I’ve been sensing I’m in for a letdown one of these weeks. He scares me. Who’d have thought I’d have more confidence in Lewis?
But with Chatman’s injuries and my lack of depth at receiver it’s a pretty clear situation. Just gotta hope my gut is wrong.
TEN vs GB is a tough one. Looks like Bulger will be back in to face GB which diminishes their value. Tennessee could crush a struggling beat up KC offense, but they may be without Haynesworth. Ugh.
If Peyton doesn’t turn it around in the last third of this game, I’ve got no chance with AP waiting in the wings tomorrow night. He needs to at least match Palmer’s production.
And what happened to Antonio Gates? Even with the stiff back, I was expecting at least one score in a 34-7 game.
What a dissapointing end to a pretty good season.
Ultimately the Cleveland Browns offense carried me and killed me. Not their fault. But when your fantasy studs are playing in a blizzard, what can you do?
I had a gut feeling that Addai would screw me, but would anyone here start Stecker over Addai vs Oak? Stecker put up 25 on my bench.
And would you start Anthony Gonzalez over either Housh or Braylon?
It turns out I would’ve beaten Frosted. So if Jammers didn’t win by .03 points, I’d be going to the championship. So, indirectly, I lost the playoffs by .03 points.
Congratulations, EE. You’ve had a crazy season. The first half of the year a better record than you should’ve had, but you’ve been very active all season in improving your team and have done a good job.
After next week, I’ll add up everyone’s post-season totals and list the scores to see what the outcome would’ve been if we weren’t playing a head to head style, just for kicks.
I wouldn’t have. Stecker gaining 25 pts is pretty anomalous, I’d say, considering the Saints don’t feature a very run heavy system. If anything, I might have benched Lewis, but Cle playing in a blizzard meant they would be forced to run more, so I would have kept Lewis in. I think you made the right choice here.
I would have started someone over Braylon, crazy as it sounds. Considering that weather, I don’t see how anyone has a big passing or receiving day. But this is one of those things that sounds obvious an hour before the game and then 80% of the time you’re left wondering how on earth you convinced yourself to start Anthony Gonzalez over Braylon Edwards. I might have done differently, but you can’t blame yourself for sticking to your studs.
Thanks, it was indeed a crazy season. I won a lot of games I shouldn’t have and lost some I shouldn’t have. Just goes to show: you can have a bad draft, make bad decisions, and not be very good at this to begin with but if you just put some effort and time into it, you’ll turn out all right.
Well, the problem was that my only real other options were Curry and Gonzalez. Curry hasn’t put up a big day in a long time. Gonzalez has, but he only has a few productive games this season. Not only that, but everyone scores on Oakland on the ground, they don’t give up many passing TDs. I figured it was unlikely for both Addai and Gonzalez to have big days.
The weather I didn’t realize was that bad until I started watching the game - I set my rosters and left my house before I saw the field. Mildly bad weather can benefit receivers - one slip by a DB and you’ve got a big play. Braylon did have 64 yards in the first half, it’s just that Buffalo sucked on both offense and defense so the Browns ran very successfully and stopped passing. I expected a 14-9 type game, not 8-0, so I thought there was still a decent chance Braylon would put up like 70/1. He’s been a stud all year, and Gonzalez was a question mark with a bad matchup, and so I erred on the side of starting my stud.
What really killed me is that I faced the Tampa defense in both of my leagues. Ugh.
I want to sit Addai, but I’m not sure I can pull the trigger. Depending on how the game is going they may pull him early. My other option is Stecker, who’s up against a pretty good Philly run D… hmm…
The league hasn’t been too social this year, unfortunately. No talk going up into the championship week?
Almost a 30 point projected difference in the game. Interesting.
Tough choice there, I’m not sure I would feel comfortable either way. Sometimes you have to just take a huge risk and swing for the fences. This week I had a tough choice at WR/RB. Barber has been good overall, but inconsistent. Last week could have sunk me if not for some other lucky breaks. Dallas hasn’t been running the ball, so I went somewhere else, even though Barber is a stud. I could choose between Maroney (terrible all year, but good last week and in the same exact position to repeat his performance this week) or Kolby Smith (decent so far in the starting role, with the best possible matchup this week). I went with the longshot with the highest upside and started Smith.
I’m pissed that Barber would have gotten me 20, but I’d do the same thing again next week and next year. It’s more fun to take those chances and live or die by them.
It has been disappointing, to say the least. Seems this is like a lot of public leagues where half the league drops out halfway through.
At the risk of sounding like Coach Holtz, there’s isn’t a chance I win this game. My luck ran out when Peterson did JUST enough to get Gridbirds to the finals. My matchups are mediocre at best, while his, from top to bottom, are exceptionally good. Between extremely fortunate matchups, and not dealing with a single major injury all season (he made ONE add/drop? Are you kidding me?!), you couldn’t ask for a better mix of good fortune for a fantasy team. I mean, he has a top 10 QB, the #1 and #3 RBs (insane!), AND the #1 WR. Isn’t that amazing?
Want to know something even crazier? He has the top fantasy TE and defense too. It’s a perfect storm of fantasy dominance, my hat’s off to him. I made every move I could, pulled every string in reach, and played every card I had, and still needed extraordinarily good luck to get here, and he didn’t have to do anything, at all, the entire season. Just sat back and enjoyed the ride. What a season.
