You really lucked out today. Bulger had 50 yards and a TD on his first drive of the game and finished with 155 yards and 1 TD. Barber gave me almost nothing, and James ended with a good game on my bench. I wanted to start him, but thought I had and didn’t double check (unlike last week where I know I started him, but it didn’t go through for some reason). Oops! Westbrook severely disappointed against Miami, too. Darn. Without an impossibly improbable game from Watson, it looks like I’m losing this week, and I probably should have won.
I’m glad that Brady is doing so well tonight because it is difficult to get consistent performances out of some of my other starters. Initially I was satisfied with my decision to start Holmes over Fargas but then I remembered that one of his key traits is his ability to pick up some receptions so I would have been better off leaving Homes on the bench. Honestly though, it was really a lose-lose. Really I am happy to take a break from the Cincinnati running back tandem. Hopefully I can gain some ground in the closing weeks just to improve my final standing.
Stuff to watch tonight:
Frosted (75.85): Brady, Stallworth, Nate Washington vs Taz (103.41): Parker, Gostkowski
Gridbirds (61.32): Moss, Jeff Reed, NE Def vs Concussions (85.55): Welker
Chitwood (107.40): Roethlisberger vs Quentin’s (92.10): Westbrook, Watson
I’m going to lose to a 3-8 team who got lucky with a kicker and a defense leading the way, and my Eagles lost a game they had a very, very good chance of winning. Bad week! Bad freaking season now that I think about it…
I THINK I should be able to win my matchup, given that I am ahead by a point, and Parker SHOULD be able to outduel Nate Washington. But with the way this year has gone in the NFL, I am NOT taking it for granted that Parker WILL outperform Washington. I will be taking more than a casual interest in this game.
You won by .32 points… I wouldn’t be complaining about your luck
I forgot sacks!! YAY!!
Could you give it a fucking rest? We all get it. You should be undefeated in every aspect of your life.
I think I’ll buy a vacation home in Miami and soak up all that wonderful rain that screwed Roethlisberger and sunk your already flat-lining team.
In other words, go fuck yourself buddy.
Haha the game was in Pittsburgh wasn’t it? That’s hilarious. Point remains, I’ll just have to buy a home in Pittsburgh now. It’s not as nice though… choices choices…
Frosted Lightning is behind roughly 50 points, but because he has Tom Brady he has a chance. He has to hope Nate Washington and Watson have much bigger days than Shayne Graham.
Court Jesters needs roughly 46 points from McGahee, Miller, and Ward.
Gridbirds needs Palmer, Moss, Reed, and NE to cover 18 points + the pittsburgh defense.
The Concussions has Welker and a 3.19 point lead over Chitwood with Roethlisberger.
Pancakes needs a huge day out of Housh and a terrible day from Chad, Parker, and Gostkowski. Not likely.
Somehow it failed to occur to me that this is the last week of our regular season. We have a 6 man, three week playoff structure.
I could’ve had the #1 seed locked up, but I guess it’s approrpiate enough that Taz ruined my day. Edit: Although being the number 2 seed may end up getting me a better matchup in week 15. Actually, scratch that. I do not want to face Frosted in week 15 when Tom Brady plays the Jets again. The horror.
I’m going to make some projections.
It looks like the playoffs will be:
- Gridbirds
- Exploding Pancakes
- Quentin’s Jammers
- Tazmanian Devils
- The Opposites
- Frosted_Lightning
Which would give us a playoff structure of
Week 13:
Gridbirds, Pancakes: Bye
Quentin’s vs Frosted
Taz vs Opposites.
Week 14:
Winner of [Quentin’s vs Frosted] vs Exploding Pancakes
Winner of [Taz vs Opposites] vs Gridbirds
Week 15:
Winner of [[Quentin’s vs Frosted] vs Exploding Pancakes]
vs
Winner of [[Taz vs Opposites] vs Gridbirds]
By 1.49 points, I sneak into the No. 1 seed.
Could it have been any closer?
Man that was rough for a while. The next few weeks should be interesting.
The fat lady has sung. I’m firing my general manager and head coach. Let’s see, this year’s first 4 picks: Larry Johnson, Marvin Harrison, Ahman Green, Philip Rivers. Got a decent year out of number 5, Laverneous Coles. Then Anthony Gonzalez (Ind), Lamont Jordan, and Matt Leinart as 6-8. What a pathetic year. I’ll follow it up next year by drafting Adrian Peterson as my number 1, and then realize I picked the Bears RB…
I really need to survive the first week of the playoffs.
Yes. In fact, just last week, in this exact same situation in my other league, I was the #1 seed battling the #2 seed, and he won 107.32 to 106.02. Coincidentally, Moss was my undoing in that game too, sort of. I had Moss, and he had a touchdown that was flagged for an absolute phantom offensive pass interference call which would’ve otherwise won me the game. I also had Neil Rackers, who missed a chip shot in OT that would’ve won the game.
This week has been such a crappy football week for me. First, the Browns get jobbed going from a comfortable playoff-bound 8-4 to a concerning 7-5. I lost a few parlays too because I picked the Browns/over. Ended up trying to make up for it by betting tonight’s game… I was convinced that after getting a scare from a mediocre team, the Pats would come out and crush a bad team.
Bad, bad week.
I could hypothetically have to face Brady vs the Jets one week, and Palmer/Cle, Moss/Mia, Tomlinson/Den, NE Def/Mia the next if things shake out that way.
I just noticed that you could’ve won by a lot more. You had Moss in your flex, when he could’ve been in place of either Berrian or Randel El, so you effectively started Berrian/Randel El over Adrian Peterson. Did you think he was still out with injury?
I wasn’t sure if he’d play or not, so I didn’t have him in before the weekend, and church ran long and I didn’t get home in time to put him in before his game started.
Stupid Marion Barber with his 3 TD’s…
