You are right. The fun on vacation comment - surely troll type of behavior. Good in bed comment - troll type of comment. Imo these comments are designed to get attention and create controversy.
As for the comments regarding her faith … and her being responsible for what happened… I thought it may have been suggested or implied. I can’t be certain that the poster really meant to say “Elizabeth Smart is responsible for what happened.” Like I said, I thought it could have been implied. I posted in the other thread addressing that issue.
Implications and inferences, so easily misunderstood. I am glad to see the ask the Mormon thread. Maybe that will lead to greater understanding. Hope so.
I wish I could share that hope with you, jacksen. Others of the LDS faith have tried to do the “Ask a Mormon” threads and the trollish types appeared there.
I have to say, though, that a non-LDS poster, Polycarp, did begin a thread which didn’t start out too well, but he and I had some discussion over it and besides getting pretty interesting in that thread, I think I gained a friend. Turns out that Polycarp is generally interested in what’s usually referred to as Comparative Religion. No judgment, no gainsaying, just interest.
FWIW: mangeorge and I were, shall we say, at odds in the GD thread. In the “Ask a Mormon” thread in IMHO, his queries I find to be respectful and nonconfrontational. I even posted that comment in there for him!
