I know it will just sound like sour grapes, but the best fantasy defense in the league is, as of this time, the Ravens D with 150 points. That’s an average of 12 points a week. Seattle is at 121, for 9.2 points a week average, which would make this week’s score more than 3 times the average. In the 14 week regular season, you had exactly one game where your defense was your top scorer, and that was with 18 points, or 60% of what you scored this week. And I do kinda find 2 pick sixes with 6 turnovers to be fluky. YMMV.
sigh. I never said it was illegitimate. You’re beating me, fair and square. Injuries, big weeks from unexpected sources, and down weeks for studs are all part and parcel of fantasy football. Hence the evil bitch goddess comments.
Alright. I guess I read it like people must feel when kickers have those freakish 7 FG days and then they get beat by a kicker and that feels like eating a shit sandwich. I think people sort of feel the same way about defenses but I disagree - defenses are much more predictable.
If it makes you feel any better, it looks like it won’t matter - depending on Akers, I probably would’ve won if Seattle had 10 points.
In fact there was nothing you could do, even your optimal lineup gets beat.
The other game is still pending - MTRG is 4 points behind with the 49ers defense. Which is a likely win, but not assured.
Plus, you know, nothing shameful about losing to me. Everyone does it. I was in 3 semifinals this year and won all 3 … and if I had managed to get the first round bye in the All-pro league, I’d crush whoever I faced in the semi-finals too. Damn, so close to 4 championship games in 5 leagues.
Tough matchups calls this week. Moore missed part of practice Friday and it’s hard to tell if he’ll play since it’s a Monday game. Greg Little had a 20 point game under Seneca Wallace last week and it’s tempting to start him over Moore. Hmm.
Picking 2 from Chris Johnson/Shonn Greene/Darren Sproles is always tough because whoever I sit has an unexpectedly big day.
Steve Smith is one of the leading scorers in the league, and yet I’ve never looked at him and saw him with a decent stat line on my fantasy teams. Whenever I need him to score something, he never does. If I had to guess based purely on memory of his performance starting for me I’d guess he was like WR30 or something, nothing special.
Carolina puts up 48 points and none of it goes through him.
I have a 16 point lead with Moore, Sproles, Akers, and the Seattle D to play. He has Rivers, DeSean Jackson, McCoy, Turner, and SF D. So I’m somewhat behind, but it’s fairly close.
Rivers has been held to nothing so far, which is nice… but he’ll be throwing against soft defenses in garbage time in the second half, so I’m concerned he’ll put up lots of points.
Close championship. I have a 3 point lead with Moore and Sproles to play. MTRG has Turner.
I would imagine I’m the favorite here, but the Saints offense outside of Drew Brees is wildly unpredictable, whereas you knoe Turner is going to get a lot of touches. Ingram is out, and that probably should help Sproles.
Moore you never know. He could put up 25 or 0. Saints WRs are boom or bust.
Motherfucker. I got here 2 minutes too late to switch my roster from Lance Moore to Randall Cobb. Even though kickoff was still 10+ minutes away, I couldn’t change the roster. I considered using the commish tools to make the roster change - as I’d do for another player if he posted his dilemma before kickoff started - but I didn’t want to call into question any potential abuse of of commish powers or anything so I just let it sit. I guess I’ll see what happens tomorrow.
Well, didn’t hurt me too badly anyway. Maybe Moore will play tomorrow, but he apparently got yanked from the Friday practice after pulling his hamstring.
