SDMB Auction FF League 2010

Looks like my Def score did update. Good thing since the best I can probably hope for at this point is a tie for fourth, I’ll need my total score tie breaker.

Trading deadline is this friday, so if you want to get something done, get cracking at it.

I play 2 of the guys Jules is in competition with for that last playoff spot in the last 3 weeks. It would be funny if I benched my entire roster to give them a win and kill his playoff chances.

Hilarious!

Of course I wouldn’t do that, but it’d be less unsporting than trying to veto a trade when someone got injured after the agreement was made.

Payton Hillis bailout baby!

140 points with a kicker shutout. Damn kickers holding me back again.

Looks like I might set the scoring record even with a 0 for the kicker.

So if I get 2 players above 30 points and a few others above 20, is it a double/triple bailout because several players had big games, or is it no longer a bailout because my team didn’t rely on the performance of 1 player?

BTW Jammers have you ran your playoff scenarios? Do you need to win out to hit the playoffs or can you get in with a loss today? You’re trailing now but with 2 good players yet to play.

Varlos needs the 49ers D to make up a 6 point gap plus Larry Fitzgerald to beat Hamlet.

Redbirds needs Vernon Davis and the Cards D to score 10 points to beat Jammers.

I ended up setting the league scoring record by 10 points despite a kicker shutout.

It looks like Varlos, Omni, and Overly Sentimental are going to lose, which leaves open some room to catch up for the 4th seed. I would guess that Jammers would have more than a 50% chance of losing this week’s game though which would put him in a pickle with only 2 weeks to catch up to people who are 2 games ahead of him. He does have a points edge on them though.

My spot as the #1 seed is secure and Rocket Science is likely to get the #2 or #3 seed. The other two slots are up for grabs between Varlos, Omni, Show Me Your TDs, and Overly Sentimental.

Also, I totally forgot that I offered to trade Jules Hillis+Bowe for Chris Johnson. I actually knew at the time that it was a bad trade, but I have a chronic need to keep reinventing my team and I hate having star talent sitting on my bench, plus I thought Chris Johnson was going places with Moss opening up the offense and his good playoff schedule. Anyway, he promptly rejected it despite it being pretty strongly stacked in his favor - even at the time I was offering the #4 RB and #6 receiver for the #5 RB). In retrospect, it might’ve helped your playoff run a bit :stuck_out_tongue:

I actually offered Overly Sentimental Bowe and Hillis for McFadden (liked his playoff schedule) and also Hillis and Vick for McFadden IIRC. But he counter-proposed wanting more out of the deal. As a joke, leading up to the game I only had Hillis and Bowe in my starting lineup, declaring that’s all I needed… I was almost right, since combined they only scored 7 less than his total score.

Varlos and Omni are still a game ahead, so winning out would get them in the playoffs. But that makes next week quite interesting - Varlos has to play me next week and Jammers gets to play Omni, which means we could stir up the playoff picture quite a bit.

If I beat Varlos, already haven beaten Overly Sentimental, I’d be paving the way to the playoffs for Jules. I have mixed feelings about that - on one hand, he’d get a sense of accomplishment from going on a late season run making the playoffs, which is bad, but on the other hand he’d be the #4 seed and I’d get to crush him and bounce him from the playoffs myself. Hmm…

This is how our league wold be ranked if we were playing a pure points league, as of week 11:

I’m out with a loss tonight. So, basically, I’m out.

You could still beat Varlos and Omni if you won the next two weeks and they lost, right? And Varlos faces me, and Omni faces you, so that’s not that unlikely.

Lawl.

Crap. I’m currently the #2 ranked team, but in the last two weeks I have to play Beef (#1, by a lot) and the Benders (#3). One win and I’m in, but if I lose both games, then I’m going to to have to out-point probably two or three other 8-6 team to sneak into the playoffs. And that’s looking like a very 50/50ish proposition.

Jules saved his whole season with that half-point win (I’m the lucky one though I’m sure, somehow! :P). And he made it on the strength of a fucking kicker of all things.

He’s gone from an outside shot to make it to probably a favorite. Omni is 1 game ahead of him but can’t make up Jules’ tiebreaker point advantage.

Omni has a shot at settling the issue himself because he plays Jules this week and can gain a 2 game lead with a win. Except his team sucks and it’s beat up (and just lost Gore) whereas Jules team is peaking and has good matchups. But… any given fantasy Sunday…

So this Omni/Jules matchup will probably determine who makes it.

Jules also holds a very slim points lead over Varlos and Rocket Science and is 2 games behind. So if they lose out (With Varlos playing me this week and them playing each other in week 14, that’s fairly likely) and Jules team does well enough to get a points edge, he’d take their spots. Edit: and thining about this again, it barely matters - if he wins out, he’s gonna take Omnis spot anyway. That does open the possibility for Show Me Your TDs though - Overly Sentimental is also 6-6 but probably can’t make up the points tiebreaker.

So yeah, barring a collapse this week, I think Jules is gonna make it. As the #4 seed. Which means I get him in week 15. Whee.

No, no I’m definitely the lucky one here. That might be the luckiest win in the history of my fantasy sports experience, considering what was at stake. That Troy Smith “fumble” at the end of the game was the end of my season, had it not been overturned. Unbelievably lucky.

I had no business winning that game. Thanks a lot Chris Johnson for your career low output exactly when I needed it least. Thanks Vincent Jackson, for three plays. Thanks Desean Jackson, for dropping a TD in two straight games and bitching about your usage. How does a defense give up 10 points and only score 4 fantasy points? Thanks Peyton, for forgetting which team you’re supposed to throw the touchdowns to! Why the fuck does this stuff always happen in the same week, and how did I still win!?

My team is peaking? On what planet? Peyton Manning has been average lately (one good game in the last 6 or 7 weeks). Desean Jackson went from the most explosive receiver in the NFL with Vick at QB to a guy who can’t catch and can’t even score 6 fantasy points. Chris Johnson’s worst game ever. I lost my projected third WR. My team is falling apart and I was extremely, unbelievably lucky to win against a 2-9 team. I don’t feel confident that I’ll make the playoffs.

It would be a shame to get such a miracle win just to lose the next game or lose in the first round… but that’s how it’s looking.

You’re right, I shouldn’t have said peaking, I should’ve said coming into a series of nice matchups.

Manning vs DAL, @TEN
Jackson vs HOU, @DAL
Charles vs DEN
Johnson vs JAX, IND
Jennings @DET

All great matchups in the next week.

You have a 30 point projected lead over Omni and if you win that game you control your own fate. I’d say there’s at least a 70% chance you make the playoffs.

All thanks to the luckiest win ever :stuck_out_tongue:

You also have some great matchups in week 15, so I’m a tad concerned.

I don’t even know how I lost any games.

I was looking at the MVPs page - where it lists the players most owned amongst the top 500 yahoo teams - and I have 5 of the top 6, and 8 of the top 13.

If I end up having a bad week 15/16 and not win this bitch it will be an epic injustice. EPIC I TELL YOU.

My decision to start both Bradshaw and Jacobs today seems to be paying off. I’m playing only for pride since I’ve had a horrible year in all the SDMB leagues.
