Antonio Gates $16
Ben Roethlisberger $10
Matt Schaub $20
Brandon Marshall $22
Santana Moss $8
Joseph Addai $8
Jeremy Maclin $9
Knowshon Moreno $15
Percy Harvin $7
Baltimore $4
Felix Jones $8
Hines Ward $6
Carnell Williams $6
Dwayne Bowe $16
Nate Kaeding $3
Dexter McCluster $3
Overspent: Those extra $39 dollars going to the waiver wire. They’re nice to have, but they really should have been spent during the auction to upgrade some of the positions. Gates was a bit of an overspend compared to other TE prices and I’m not sold on Dwayne Bowe, so $16 was a bit much.
Value: There is a lot of middling talent that is good value here. Schaub at $20 was outstanding value, Moreno at $16 is worth a shot, and Addai at $8 was great. Nicely done. Had this team mixed in a couple studs, it would be ready to compete.
Team: Not enough firepower to compete. I do like a lot of the picks, and getting some high upside players like Harvin, Maclin, and Jones mixed with guys with good opportunities like Ward and S. Moss, will help put points on the board. But the lack of true studs, guys who can just explode, could make for a long year. Still, a solid team that shouldn’t have saved all that money.
It was a great trade for you. You got a stud WR. However, you weakened your RB corp. I’m not sure you can count on Brown and Foster and Best have some serious question marks. Sure you’ll play the hot guy week to week, but I really don’t see any of those three being a top 10 RB.
Cedric Benson $32
Ryan Mathews $42
Drew Brees $34
LeSean McCoy $25
Anquan Boldin $16
New York $3
Hakeem Nicks $12
Jason Witten $10
Braylon Edwards $6
Mario Manningham $1
New York $2
Dez Bryant $11
Mike Bell $1
David Garrard $1
David Akers $1
Dustin Keller $1
Overpaid: I dislike Cedric Benson this year. He relies on getting a lot of carries to get his points and I’m not sure he’ll be able to do that this year. Also, if you do spend the money for him, grab Bernard Scott. I also think Ryan Matthews is in a good position, but he’s a rookie, likely to wear down as the year goes on, and not worth being the #8 RB paid. Dez Bryant is the fourth or fifth option in the Dallas offense and, while great in keeper, not worth 11 here.
Value: Keller, Manningham at 1 are outstanding value, and I really like getting Bolden for $16.
Team: I was intrigued by the strategy. We don’t have a flex position in this league, so I’m on the fence about spending almost half your salary to grab 3 good RB’s with upside. It gives you flexibility and trade bait, but cost you a solid WR crew. With 3 starting WR spots, I don’t think you can really count on the ones on your roster to score you points. You may be leaving a lot of points on the bench this year. But other than that, I think Brees, Witten, Akers, and the rest will give you a shot to win every week.
1 -1 Brett Favre $10
2 -21 Vernon Davis $12
3 -26 DeSean Jackson $18
4 -36 DeAngelo Williams $37
5 -45 Philip Rivers $20
6 -51 Jonathan Stewart $16
7 -52 Steve Smith $15
8 -55 Ryan Grant $32
9 -57 Chad Ochocinco $9
10 -58 Mike Sims-Walker $12
11 -61 Golden Tate $3
12 -71 Toby Gerhart $3
13 -95 Ryan Longwell $2
14 -119 Steve Breaston $4
15 -129 Dallas $1
16 -133 Ricky Williams $4
Team: I really like this team. Williams and Grant are solid RB’s and good value. Stewart is an outstanding #3. Although I think Rivers won’t match next years numbers, he’s certainly a solid starter. The only real weakness is at WR, where I still have questions whether DeSean Jackson can repeat all those long catches that make him valuable, whether OchoCinco will have enough opportunities, whether Sims Walker will stop disappearing for games at a time. But I love Steve Smith. All in all, I really like this teams’ chances each and every week.
Despite getting almost no production out of my receivers, I put up a pretty good 104 points. If Calvin Johnson’s play had been ruled a catch, that’d be another 10. Jammers is 44 points behind, but still has Ray Rice, Jamal Charles, and San Diego still to play. They only have to average 15 each to make up the gap.
I hate watching games hoping for something not to happen. It’s much easier to root for something to happen. I think that’s why I’m much more likely to bet the over than the under on games.
New York Fanboys needs 45 points out of Boldin, Matthews, and the NYJ defense.
Overly Sentimental has a small shot. He needs to beat the production of Flacco and Greene while making up a 25 point grab with Bowe, Gates, Kaeding, and the Baltimore D.
I wouldn’t mind having that Naanee throw-in guy back after 110/1 in the opener. I’m not feeling so bad about Mendenhall even though he was pretty good, since Foster lit shit up. Hopefully that wasn’t a fluke - if he’s RB1 quality all year I’m gonna fly this boat to the moon somehow.
Remember to get waiver claims in. I think they get processed Tuesday night/Wednesday morning at midnight, but I’m not 100% sure. FAAB is a silent auction system - you put in a claim (by finding the player and clicking the add button) with a bid amount, and if you have the highest bid, that’s subtracted from your year-long total and you get the player.
Yeah, I officially hate Arian Foster now. What a very, very fortunate miracle for you as your entire team took a shit in week 1 and you still managed a victory. Can’t say I really deserved much better as my team aside from Peyton was mostly a wreck anyway. The only solace is that I’ll probably win this league now that I’ve lost to you again in the regular season.
Heh, I originally submitted bids in both the Auction and All-Pro leagues for $30, then later thought better of it and kicked those bids up to $50. At the last minute I decided to bump them even further, to $60, but bids were already closed. Now I see he went in both leagues for $100. Oh my.
Like you, my plan was to trade him away immediately for a WR in both leagues. heh.
I was left wondering what happened if I bid $100 too. How are ties settled in auction bidding, especially if both bids are max $100 and thus can’t go higher?
I wondered that myself. First one in? The “commissioner tools” section *implies *that even when using a FAAB system, there’s still a waiver priority list. Maybe it comes into play.
As in my other leagues, Brandon Jackson is very much on the trade block. Since I already have MJD, Adrian Peterson, and Matt Forte, and we can only start two RBs, what I need is a stud WR, preferably in a straight-up, 1 for 1 deal. My top three RBs can also be had, though of course I’d need more for Peterson or Jones-Drew (like a WR and an upgrade at QB).
If there’s a tie, it’s resolved by the old style rolling list waiver system. I assume for the purposes of that list, higher-valued waivers are processed first.
Well, with Foster and Best both having 41 point games in the first two weeks, I’m pretty happy with my strategy of finding cheap gems at RB and improving my roster everywhere else.
One hour before kickoff and I’m unable to find out if Hakeem Nicks (gametime decision) is starting or not. My intention is to start him if he does, and if not start Mario Manningham instead.
We have a new feature this season: GM/Coach rankings. The GM column lists the maximum points you could have scored if you put all your top-scorers in your starting lineup. The Coach grade is a percentage of how many points you actually did score compared to how many you could have.
Your max potential score is really a rating of how well you draft, trade and manage the waiver wire/free agent pool. The points are listed as average/week instead of total for season.

That’s a very cool idea. Do you have some sort of automation to do those grades, or do you just manually add them up by looking at everyone’s roster page for a given week?
