So how many of you also put in a bid for Kaepernick?
Not me. I think he’s horribly overrated and Alex Smith will have his job back before the end of the season.
I’m not sure about how the playoffs work in divisional leagues, and Yahoo! is not providing me clarity.
So the division winners get a playoff spot (and a top seed) regardless of record, right? Then who gets the other four? Top record over the entire league? Could all four come from the same division?
Yeah, I think it’s basically the four division winners and four wild cards, based on record and points. Same as the NFL.
You very well may be right.
Also, does this league look askance at me sitting my defense with a lead going into MNF? If so, I’ll play them, but I’m willing to take my chances with the vagaries of stat corrections.
No, that’s fine. People do it semi-regularly.
We have our playoffs. There was quite a lot of parity this year, most teams are 7-6 or 6-7. We have 4 qualifiers from the newbie division, using 3 of the wildcard slots. Good work.

Not Sure (brickbacon) sent me an e-mail saying that if division winners are getting playoff seeds, we need an equal number of division games to all players. He got kinda screwed since he had the highest score of his division by 2 points, same number of wins, but had a 1-1 division record, beat buy the guy who had more division games at 3-1.
Strangely, I had always assumed yahoo scheduled the same number of division games for all players - I had never really looked closely. But it varies quite a bit.
Divisions 1 and 4 have 4 intra-division games each. Division 2 has four people with 3, but one person with 2. Division 3 has 3 people with four, and two people with two.
The chance of getting screwed in this case is pretty thin, but Not Sure managed to hit it.
Next year I can probably manually edit the schedule so that everyone has the same number of divisional games, but I’m worried it’s going to be logistically difficult. It’s sort of tricky to design a schedule - because every time you tweak one game and find a new opponent with a new slot, you have to tweak another game to put that other guy in, which leads to having to tweak another game… I’m going to talk to Varlos about this because he’s done it before.
I don’t know if there’s anything we can do about it now. It probably is more fair that Not Sure make the playoffs at this point, but then Unrelated Siblings would have a pretty big gripe since he qualified under the rules.
Well, in any case I apologize to brickbacon for not forseeing the possibility of this scenario popping up.
I appreciate the apology. No need to change any results, just something that should probably be fixed going forward.
Shane Vareen vs John Kuhn is a really hard decision. This league…
I need a big day out of Rodgers, which haven’t been too common this season. He traditionally beats up Detroit but I’m not sure a big game is finally coming.
I got a crappy matchup in the sense that I’m playing the league’s point leader by a large margin and I’m the third seed. But seeding can be silly in fantasy football.
I’ll need an upset to keep my streak as champion going.
Peterson has 20 points in 20 (real time) minutes.
Aaron Rodgers, I call upon you in my time of need…
I benched Vernon Davis finally after endless dissapointment, figuring Dwayne Allen is consistently good for 6 points a game. Woops. If Davis has a big day I’m going to burn this motherfucker down.
“Luck scored well against Tenn earlier in the year, and this one is at home, surely he can outscore Kaepernick this week.” :smack:
And then Joe McKnight had late migraines while I sat Leon Washington. This league is mildly infuriating, but in a good way.
Two time champ me is out of the running. Ran into the highest scoring team in the first round of the playoffs and he sawed right through me.
#8 seed Evil Monkey crushed the #1 seed Cobra Kai
#4 Unrelated Siblings defeated #5 Red Hot Hocculi Peppers
#2 Overly Sentimental beat #7 Rough n Tumblers
My inability to play the right TE finally caught up to me. If I pulled my two TEs and played Sheffler and Howling I would’ve won.
Oh well, 7 out of 20 isn’t terrible for my first time in an auction league.
Serves me right for riding the hot(?) hand of Joe Flacco for this long.
I’m a week late but if anyone wants to discuss the fantasy playoffs in general or the SDMB league playoffs, I started this thread.
Yep, now I have a good week.
