SenorBeef and I are matched up against each other in an interdivisional playoff game. Our regular season record against each other was 1-1, but that was only because I picked up a kicker at the last moment to push me over the edge on the second game.
Season-long favorite Overly Sentimental and their 1507 regular season points goes up against the third representative from the Threebies division, Up By Three. They did not meet in the regular season.
Pretty spicy matchup between underdog Curry Porkrinds and Red Hochuli Peppers. They were also in opposite conferences and did not meet in the regular season. Despite their 7-6 record, Curry Porkrinds were only outscored by 44 points in the regular season. Should be close.
And finally, we have 9 Inch Niels and poopiusdickimus. poopius beat 9IN 87-69 in the regular season - a low scoring affair that oddly didn’t involve any bye weeks.
What’s this “finally” business? I had the most points in the league right up until this week (and I’m still second.) I should have top billing! That Week 7 loss was by far my lowest score of the season, and my only game with less than 89 points (and one of only four with under 100.)
Not sure what to make of my game this week. Down by four and change with Tony Romo left to play for me and Brandon Marshall left for him. Yahoo is projecting him to win by two, and Romo has been a little cold lately.
It’s pretty rare to see so many points left on the bench in this league - and three of the four playoff games this week involved just that. I think the sheer size of rostered players in this league makes those final decisions so tough, especially if you’ve been good on the waiver wire and amassed some talent.
Bah. Tony Romo throws three touchdowns, Brandon Marshall doesn’t score any, and I still can’t make up a five point gap. The most dominant team in the league this season, down in flames.
In fairness, my team was never quite the same after Arian Foster went down - though Montee Ball turned out to be a brilliant waiver wire pickup.
What are you talking about? Overly Sentimental is still alive! Seriously you each had great teams, but he not only had a higher scoring average (115.97 to 113.41), but he faced much tougher competition (98.97 pts against versus 94.17) and he finished with a better record. You each had the top score of the week twice, but he faced the top score once. He also had 3 of the top 10 scores on the season to your 2.
If Foster hadn’t gone down, it’d certainly be a different story.
I mean my team was pretty much untouchable for the first half of the season; I outscored Overly Sentimental every week from Weeks 2-7 (and he outscored me by 3 in week 1.) Granted, his team was much better than mine over the second half.
Well,
I had an incredible team this year, and I would have coasted to the title if not for last week’s stumble. Still, third place in consecutive years is pretty solid.
Enjoyed it as ever, see you guys next fall!
