SDMB Big League Fantasy Football 2013

You want close? I went into last night’s game ahead nearly 22 points and feeling cocky. NotSure (brickbacon) had Darren Sproles. 23.02 points later and me wishing for a late fumble and defensive recovery that never came, I lose by 1.62 points. Even in getting blown out, the Cowgirls still find a way to hurt me.

And that was with Seneca Wallace going down after one pass.

Ugh, I need stupid DeAngelo Williams to do as well or better than Gronk to take SenorBeef down. I actually expected to get blown out this week so I guess its nice that this is actually coming down to the end here. Go Panthers!?

Ugh, I was one field goal away. I think the only way I make the playoffs now is to win my next to games and have the teams in 8th-10th place lose theirs.

Two field goals away. Or an FG and XP. You lost by 3.01. How many teams make the playoffs in this league?

Or a 40+ yard FG. Playoffs is 8 teams.

Ah. I’ve been freaking out because I’m this close to losing the division lead, but apparently that’s not necessary.

Things are starting to shake out here. The **Threebies **division looks to have 3 teams in the playoffs, while the 2/3 mix division not only qualifying just one team, but their representative could go into the 4th seed with the lowest record in the post-season. Next week’s matchup between Living Through Them and Curry Porkrinds will decide who goes. In the **Deuces **division, it appears Overly Sentimental has it locked up, with poopiusdickimus taking the second slot. The Newbies will be represented by 9 Inch Neils or Red Hochuli Peppers. Here’s where things likely stand:

(1) Overly Sentimental
(8) Up By Three

(4) Living Through Them
(5*) poopiusdickimus

(2) Scissor Me Timbers
(7) Red Hochuli Peppers

(3) 9 Inch Neils
(6*) Exploding Pancakes

#5 and #6 depend on a number of things tonight, so that may well change. I based this off the assumption that poopiusdickimus* wins.

Unfortunately, it won’t be a true AFC v. NFC type Super Bowl, since things are shuffled up, and the 1/4 and 2/3 matchups are mixed as well. There’s nothing that can be done about that, short of major tinkering with records and such. It’s a slight imperfection in what I think turned out to be a really solid league structure. I’m slightly partial, but I think the rescheduling to match up twice against divisional opponents and once against everyone in a “rival” division was a major improvement to the system.

There is, of course, one more week to go after this - so there’s still some room for changes. But apart from the fight in the 2/3 mix division, I think the field is set.

**That’s fun to type.

How does the seeding work? Do division winners automatically get a higher seed?

I got bitten hard by the “Joel Dreesen will totally start in place of Julius Thomas” bug this week, and in all probability it’s going to cost me an undefeated division record. That is, I’m pretty sure Phil Dawson is not going to score 21.11 points.

I was crushing kids left and right to start the year but I’m fading fast down the stretch with Arian Foster gone.

Yeah, divisional winners get seeds 1-4 (by record, then total points), then 5-8 follow from there.

Yeah, I’m hurting from the loss of Randall Cobb, and I’m depending on a lot of question marks to solidify. Can MJD string together a few more games? Will Victor Cruz keep getting jammed at the line of scrimmage? How is Percy Harvin going to fit into the Seattle offense? Will Jordan Cameron ever get into Jason Campbell’s progression?

I’ll just be happy with a solid regular season in this league. Any post-season wins are gravy.

Considering I finished dead last in this league last year I’ve already exceeded my own expectations. I think I probably still have the best odds of winning the league, and I have a shot at three-peating in HHM.

I don’t want to talk about HHM. This has been the biggest disappointment of a season since I had Peterson, Foster and Charles and still couldn’t finish better than 4th.

I’m really surprised at the spread of teams in this league. We have teams with wins at every level from 1 win to 9 wins. While Mundi has scored the 3rd lowest points, he also faced the most points in the league (1393). poopiusdickimus, on the other, hand, is in the middle of the pack in terms of points, but faced only 988 points - that’s a huge difference.

Still a lot on the line this week, even though the field is set, but for one slot. Living Through Them versus Curry Porkrinds for the last playoff slot. And most everyone else is still jockeying for position.

There’s not a consolation bracket, is there?

I don’t think so. If you check the playoff brackets next to the standings on the main page there’s a dropdown but it doesn’t show projected matchups.

Mundi’s team is on pace to break the record for (hardest) strength of schedule in this league by 6 points per game!

ETA: Mundi is also on pace to break the record for strength of schedule in HHM!!!

Ugh, this was a rough season. 5th in points, but 2nd in points against. Just missing the playoffs.

There were in previous years, so yeah probably.

Yeah, you definitely got hosed. Your Week 5 matchup was a squeaker. Austin Pettis stole all your STL WR thunder that day. And your two worst weeks were against the same divisional opponent, which never helps.

I think you confused him with somebody else. enalzi is Rough and Tumblrs; he got crushed 98-167 in Week 5.

Darren McFadden is really getting healthy at the wrong time. I was fine with Rashad Jennings, but now it might be a Fred Jackson/CJ Spiller situation where there’s no way to know who to start. This week Chris Ivory is hurt, so there’s no real cost to start them both, but still.

I don’t think mcfadden is ever getting his job back (once Jennings is over the concussion).

Definite MAYBE needs 12 points from Beast Mode to beat me (which is probably going to happen - he’s scored more than that in all but three games this season and was over 20 in the last three). That means I’ll be the sixth seed, I think, despite having the most points. What’s annoying is that I can’t move up from the third seed even if I win, because Overly Sentimental and Scissor Me Timbers both won.
