Similar situation as dalej42. I need a better option than I have at RB, but the best I can give you at QB is somebody who SHOULD be good, but has thrown more picks than TDs: Philip Rivers.

Trade to announce:
Return of Ryan Leaf gives up Tom Brady, Peyton Hillis
SenorBeef gives up Shaun Greene, Jackie Battle.
If you think Hillis has any value, this deal is lopsided in my favor, but I’m honestly not confident Hillis will play another down this year. The situation is weird and a mess, lots of bad mojo. In which case I’m trading 2 starting RBs for a QB, and he’s going to ride it out with a surprisingly good looking Carson Palmer.
As SenorBeef points out, this deal looks a little lopsided on paper, especially if Hillis comes back. But i needed an upgrade now, ad was willing to take some risks to work something out.
If Hillis does come back and produce, then SenorBeef got a bargain. But Hillis had already been declared out for this weekend, and while the team has been saying that they expect him to play the last 5 games of the year, plenty of commentators are, like Beef, wondering whether that will actually happen.
Also, the RB upgrade is probably bigger than it looks for me, because before this trade my RB corps consisted of Hillis and Thomas Jones, giving a total of 3.8 points from my RBs over the past 4 weeks combined (!!!). If Greene and Battle manage to just maintain their average production over the next few weeks, that should mean a 12-20 point-per-week upgrade for my team.
I’m throwing quite a few eggs in the Carson Palmer basket here. Not only have i traded away Tom Brady to stick with Palmer, but i also have Denarius Moore, TJ Houshmandzadeh, and Kevin Boss on my team, so if Oakland don’t throw the ball i’m in some trouble.
But i think Palmer has been looking pretty decent, and he’s probably going to reduce his INT numbers as he gets used to the Oakland offense. Also, the Raiders don’t play a single top-20 pass defense team over the next month, and they have games coming up against the Vikings, Dolphins, and Chiefs.
Right, this is essentially you going from 0 in your RB slots to 20 points a week. And 20 points a week is greater than the gap between Brady and Palmer will be, hence, this improves both our teams. Assuming Hillis isn’t a big factor for the rest of the year. But since I have his sort of handcuff I can take the risk.
Potential issue. I forgot that Shonn Greene plays tonight and I haven’t had internet access for 24 hours, so I didn’t push the trade through until now. Pushing the trade through doesn’t work to my advantage - I’d rather it happen next week because due to the bye situation I’m left without an RB starter this week - but I figured Mhendo would want it to go through so he could use green, and the default/consistent thing to do would be for me to push it through now.
Anyway, he has an empty RB slot right now, and he has no one on his bench he’d be using for it, so if he doesn’t happen to check his roster and notice I pushed through the trade before the game, it’ll be obvious he wanted Greene in there instead of an empty, and adjust accordingly.
I’ve put my shiny new RBs into their slots, and am ready to go!
Rough week - the trade robbed me of two starters, and Maclin is out, leaving me with 2 empty slots. I could find some scraps off the waiver wire to start, but I’d have to drop Alex Smith or Peyton Hillis. Hmm…
Well, if it makes you feel any better, Green wouldn’t have done you much good. He left early with a rib injury, and totaled less than 2 fantasy points.
Im having problema with yahoo on my phone. Ive tried to change out ford for thomas and cant. Iwant thomas starting since ford is out.
I’ll fix it later.
My communication and typing skills on my phone aren’t very goodly.
Glad I held onto Earl Bennett through 9 useless weeks.
Evil Monkey needs 14 out of Woodhead to beat Court Jesters - longshot, I know, but you never know with the Pats.
I’m good as long as the NE defense doesn’t have more TDs than Tom Brady.
Unrelated Siblings has a 13 point lead and Deion Branch against Frosted Lightning’s Welker, Green-Ellis, and McCluster.
Living Through Them needs a pretty unlikely performance from Tyler Palko.
Playoffs are soon. As #9 in the rankings, I’ve spent some time thinking about how they will go down.
First off, anyone who is 8-3 or better is probably safe. To miss the playoffs, you need to lose out, I need to win out, and I need to gain a large number of points off of you. Exploding Pancakes is the closest, and he beats me by 67 points.
To get in, I need to win out, and someone who is 7-4, but not Hey There Fancypants needs to lose out. If Living Through Them or Garcon’s Cedilla win out, and Hey There Fancypants loses out, Living Through Them or Garcon’s Cedilla takes over Fancypant’s divisional place.
Also, If I don’t win out, Living through them or Garcon’s Cedilla do, and one of the 7-4s lose out, then Living or Garcon’s will go to the playoffs if they have more total points than the 7-4, though Living through them is much more likely to have the points.
Nice analysis, Taber.
Doubt I’ll win out, especially getting to face Beef in Week 14, but it has been fun all of the same. C’mon Leinart!
Anyone interested in trading a meh to so-so RB before the deadline for a meh to decent WR or TE, since the Lions have now apparently figured out that Maurice Morris sucks? No reasonable offers unconsidered.
So, I have this extra Orton, and would like to trade him for either a WR3 or a RB that’s better than my current Felix Jones/Ryan Grant/Lance Ball crapshoot. I could be convinced to package one of those guys for enough of an upgrade.
Denarius Moore is apparently a game-time decision today.
He’s currently in my line-up, and i may not be at the computer when the decision is made. If he is out, i would like to replace him with TJ Houshmandzadeh.
Is that OK?
Yes. The correction might come later though. Hard to do from my iPod.
