I need to start doing some trade research to get a real life RB before the deadline hits. If anyone is interested in a WR I am open to negotiation.
I also need a decent RB.
Anyone willing to take a shot on Carson Palmer now? He managed more points than Tom Brady this week, although admittedly he was only playing against the Broncos. Yahoo has Palmer as a top fantasy pickup, and the Raiders’ next game is against San Diego, who have given up a bunch of passing TDs recently.
If Palmer is too risky, i’d even be willing to include Tom Brady in trade discussions, and keep Palmer myself. Any trade for Brady would have to be come with a pretty decent offer, though. Not only is Brady a top-tier QB, but New England’s opponents over the rest of the season have a combined record of 24-41.
Would you be interested in taking one of my WRs (Colston, Maclin, Bowe) for Brady? Two of them are top 10, and the other probably would be if not for injury early on.
Dude, have you seen my team?
I have two RBs. One is Peyton Fucking Hillis, who hasn’t set foot on a field in three weeks, has played 4 of Cleveland’s 8 games, and who was pretty mediocre when he did play. He’s managed 2 TDs all year, both against the winless Colts. He’s already confirmed as out again for Week 10.
The other RB is Thomas Jones, who i had some hope for when Jamaal Charles went down for the season, but who has been stuck as the #3 rusher on a pretty crappy running team since then.
For the past four weeks, i’ve effectively had about 0.2 RBs on my team.
My 2 RBs have, between them, totaled 68 fantasy points for the season, and 4.80 points over the past 4 weeks. That’s 1.20 points a week from my whole RB corps over the past month. I have 4 WRs who each approach or exceed the total fantasy contribution from my 2 RBs.
I’ll part with Brady for a good RB, because i have basically nothing at RB now, but not for a much more marginal gain at a position where i actually manage to get some points each week already. If i could slot one of those WRs you offered in to replace Hillis, i’d take the offer, but i can’t, and taking another WR just means another week with a completely empty RB spot, and another RB spot that is virtually empty.
I didn’t actually look at your team, my bad. Just made a reflexive offer.
McFadden is too good to move, but I’d be willing to make some sort of combo deal out of Greene/Battle/Tate/Ogbannaya if you’re interested. I could throw in Alex Smith, or maybe do some sort of receiver upgrade as part of the deal.
That sounds like something that might work. I have to prepare to teach my class, and i’m in the classroom for much of the afternoon, so i won’t be able to look at this closely until tonight or tomorrow morning. Once i sit down and look at the options, i’ll make you an offer; you are also welcome to make an offer of your own.
I don’t think i need Smith, though. I kind of like the idea of sticking with Palmer. There’s a chance that he could crash and burn, but he looked pretty decent with the Oakland offense on the weekend, and he’s also the sort of guy who, if things come together, could put up a few big games.
Justin Bailey’s pre-game requested change of Feely to Bradford didn’t go through for some reason when I did it on Sunday night, and I had to redo it tonight. The score is accurately reflected in the scoring page, but it said it might take up to 24 hours for a league standing change.
Games start tonight, don’t forget.
I’d just like to mention how utterly dominating the Vets division is this year. We’ve got 3 out of the 4 players that have 7 wins, making us 3 of the top 6 seeds currently.
Fuck me, i completely forgot about the Thursday night start.
You know when i remembered? During the commute on the way home, when the big freeway signs warned that traffic would be slow due to a “Stadium event.”
I drive right by Qualcomm on my way home, and the smoke from the pre-match fireworks was still hanging in the air as we passed the stadium. Of course, the fact that the match is in San Diego, and turned my usual 40-minute commute into 80 minutes, meant that i couldn’t even get home in time to change my roster around or propose a trade.
That means that i’m stuck starting Brady this week, SenorBeef, because i hadn’t moved Palmer in to replace him. Sorry about spacing on the Thursday game. Maybe we can work a trade next week.
And, just as an aside, it’s a real fucking pain in the ass when they hold a football game right at rush-hour on a Thursday night, in a stadium that sits near the intersection of four major freeways in America’s eighth-largest city.
So not only do I have to watch Michael Bush totally demolish SD, thinking damn, if only McFadden were in there, he’d be tearing them up worse and I’d be racking up the points.
No, that wasn’t enough that my best starter was out again. It had to be that my opponent happened to own my backup and was using him against me.
Only really two games with a chance of being decided on Monday night:
Scissor Me Timbers has Percy Harvin and an 8-point lead over Court Jesters and Jordie Nelson.
No Use For a Name II has Randall Cobb and Mason Crosby to play, and has a 1.5 point lead over Living Through Them, who has Greg Jennings still to come.
And, in almost-but-not-quite-impossible territory:
The Gusterrhoids needs about 60 points out of James Jones and Adrian Peterson to catch Curry Porkrinds (who got 40+ points out of two tight ends this week).
Varlos could conceivably catch The Brute Squad in the unlikely event that he can get 20 out of Donald Driver. It would also require Lorenzo Booker to draw a blank sheet on the night.
All reasonable offers are considered.
I’d be willing to give you something for him, but I suspect you’d want me to buy high here since he’s coming off huge games, and McFadden is coming back next week so Bush goes back to having handcuff value, not 30 point per game RB value. What would you be looking for?
You think my team has a chance (even an “almost-but-not-quite-impossible” one)? Wow, that’s more faith than I have in their chances tonight.
Well, not really, but i didn’t want to offend anyone. ![]()
Yeah I haven’t mentioned the very longshot teams in my update posts for brevity, but one of these weeks it’s going to bite me in the ass when like Nate Burleson scores 40 points or something and a matchup I didn’t even mention turns out to go the other way.
I’m willing to move Bowe, Maclin, Colston, Green, Tate, or Battle for a good QB.
Go Jordy!
Standings versus points for this league are all out of whack, but I’m leading my division and that is all that counts (especially after last year).
Oh, tell me about it…
Really, Randall Cobb, you had to get a return TD in this game? Still, personally speaking, this year has been much more fun than last. Even with Schaub going out for the year.
How good are you looking for? I’ve got a glut of QBs (Ryan, Moore, Ponder, Gabbert) and really hurting at RB.
