So, I’m new here and I don’t know if it’s just me or some noob function or something is actually broken.
Sometimes I can see other poster’s signatures in their posts and sometimes I can’t, even if the discussion is about the signature. Sometimes I can see my own on preview when I select it, and it works when the message is posted, but sometimes it doesn’t. Sometimes it doesn’t preview when I’ve selected it. Happens regardless of the computer I’m on.
Are you ticking the “show signature” box each time you post?
The other posters are probably not adding their signature all the time. The accepted practice is to use your signature sparingly, normally just once per thread or page.
I don’t use it much, but when I do, it will randomly show or not show, both in the preview and in the actual post. Of course, I have to tick the “signature” box, but it’s a crap shoot as to whether it will actually show.
And then, in other threads where one poster will ask another about his signature, I can’t see that signature. (I can’t find the thread right now, been surfing the forums for too many hours to remember).
Pullet, in your User settings, you had “Display Signatures” clicked to NO, so the only ones you’re seeing are those that are manually added.
Since I was looking at your settings anyway, I went ahead and changed the display signature option to “YES.” Now you will see many more sigs.
You can always change it back if you like; click the “User CP” hyperlink in the blue band at the top of nearly every SDMB page. In the User Control Panel you can custom tailor the message board experience to suit you.
And yes, if you wish to use your stored signature on the board, you must click to use it underneath your post before you hit the “submit reply” button. This is true especially if you preview your post. We ask that you use your signature once per page of a thread; that really is enough, we think.
