Well, Tsar, in view of that fortuitously available retreat I am prepared to maintain the alliance. Given the developments in Scandinavia it’s my unbiased view that you’d be well advised to take it. I’m sorry if you thought I was being dilatory over Rumania but I did explain what was going on, and I’m not entirely happy - but I’m also willing to say “all’s well that ends well” and hope that Italy gets back to doing something effective.
I find myself in a bit of a bind.
On one hand, I have managed to stalemate Germany rather nicely.
On the other, I have an ally that to date has done nothing to assist me in dislodging the German from his grip on Hol or any other lands.
I beg of you England, to come up with a plan that helps us both. All that his alliance has gained me so far is the enmity of Germany, and you the freedom to move without German interdiction.

Sorry about that. I was certain I had PM’d my moves. I suspect they were eaten by my iPhone. I’ll try to post orders from a more reliable connection in future.

Turkey? You can see now that there isn’t enough meat on my bones for everyone to be happy. Russia’s gettin his, and next on his list is Budapest, so even though you lucked out into a retreat, it isn’t going to last.
Italy? We can still be strong against Turkey together and you have little hope of progressing against me. Even if you get Ven. back I just retreat to Rome, and then retreat to Naples. It’s going to take you all three units an several years to repair this mistake.
Russia? You see that I was pro-Russian before, and you can’t crack the Turk without my help.
This is true. If you were to return control of Venice to Italian hands I believe I could be induced to switch sides.
I don’t see one mate-to even get one of us into position to get a center back from Germany next year, given Russia’s past and continued intransigence (he puts forth some bogus peace feelers, followed by some suggestions on future cooperation by me, followed by complete silence on his part, followed by a very schitzophrenic set of orders which simultaneously would have helped me and stabbed me-go figure that one out), would basically require me to correctly read Germany’s mind on each and every move, and somehow get Russia to stop humping my leg in the meanwhile. I felt my only mid-term chances at builds lie in Russia direction. And please re-read my long post from last week where I outlined the reasons for my Spring moves, where, if I had guessed correctly and/or Russia wasn’t being a royal pain in my patookis, we’d likely would have been sitting pretty after this past fall.
I’ll still toss out the Triple Alliance as an option to seriously consider.

We appear to be co-belligerents. While we can’t cooperate directly at the moment, I just want to keep the channels open if such opportunities present themselves in the future.

@Russia: Stand by me and in due course you will have Budapest, and also my long-term friendship (which, in view of the troubled situation elsewhere, may be highly necessary). But I want to turn the screws in the Balkans first and I warn you that I will not forgive any further transgressions. We’ll go over the fine detail presently.
@Italy: Don’t panic! You have a fox in your hen run now but as long as you are able to compensate with gains elsewhere, that one Austrian army can’t keep more than one centre from you, and you should be able to outpace him. I foresee a near future when there is an Austrian colony in Naples, the last encircled remnant of the Dual Monarchy. Again, fine detail will follow.
@GM: Perhaps an acknowledgement of orders received? I experienced some database problems but could see the PM in my Sent folder so assumed I was OK (as I was), but I could have been wrong knowing the board software’s propensity for screw-ups.
I did send a reminder PM asking for moves from Italy. If the players would like an acknowledgement, I can do so.
