Welcome to Diplomacy, a game of strategy, tactics and stabbing your allies in the back. It is Spring of 1901 and the various rulers have all decided to conquer Europe.
Our current players are:

Malacandra - Turkey
Tristan - France
John DiFool - England
treis - Austria
Greetings to all my friends and partners in spreading the great Germanic culture from sea to sea. Great profit and nobility will rain upon you at the conclusion of our relationship. Let us begin in all faith and fortitude. I eagerly await your missives.
Jolly good show then! Now introduce me to allow myself, you may call me Inspector Lion…lion?! Where!? Oh heh, almost got fooled by that old one. <ahem> Now then. Someone, in this room, then, the murderer will be-the question is-who? Hopefully, clever people like me, who talk loudly in restaurants, shall prevail, and the clarity shall be devastating.
Greetings, all. Our humble and peaceful nation wishes nothing more than to bring the benefits of our civilisation to all, such as Delight, baths and cigarettes. They who are willing to accommodate our reasonable desires will find us trustworthy and loyal allies.

Okay, enough with the preliminaries. France/Tristan, I wish to demilitarize the English Channel. We can do this the easy way (just not move anything there), or the hard way (mutual bounce). I’d prefer the easy way (as would you, as you need those two builds from Iberia). I await your reply.

If I may be so presumptuous as to jump into the Austrian/Italian question:
You two really lose, in the long run, much more than you gain by stabbing each other over your adjacent starting centers, Venice and Trieste. I have a long-standing concern about the plights of both countries, which typically get clobbered midgame by either an Eastern (Russia/Turkey) alliance, or a Western one (typically France w/ an English ally). I’d suggest abandoning both centers on the very first move; even if one of you stabs away, keep in mind that you each need a strong buffer in each other to help prevent those midgame blitzkriegs, and in an open press game this all goes double.
Do what you will, but think about my words a bit is all I ask.

[Turkey]Greetings, great Tsar! We are more than happy to consider this proposal… do you have any longer-term cooperation in mind? Where would you dispose your Sevastopol fleet, and how would this further your intentions in the South?
[/Turkey]
I’m glad to see you approve of a demilitarized area between our two great nations.
I would suggest that should I move my fleet to Rumania, and you move yours to Constantinople, that would be an excellent start to our relationship.
At a future date, we may discuss the Russian fleet transiting Constantinople to the Mediterranean in a Spring season, extending Russian influence to the Med and decreasing the potential threat to Turkey. However, I think to have that discussion now would be too soon. I just leave it as a suggestion for the future, should we both prove comfortable enough to think about it.
To the Austrian Emperor:
I trust you see that Rumania clearly falls within the Russian sphere of influence? Should I place my fleet there, it poses no threat to Budapest, and it would be far better than me claiming it with an army.
Signed: wevets, speaking for all the Russias
ETA: Malacandra, if yellow’s bad, imagine if I signed all my posts with Russia’s white!
