Meanwhile, Archduke, please tell me if you require any assistance in Rumania/Sevastopol this year.
Are you planning on convoying from Greece to Naples? If so, then I think your units are all tied up in maneuvers. If you aren’t convoying, then we can talk about going after Rumania this turn.
The A. Gre *is *probably off on its travels. Let’s leave Rum until fall, then.
I’m not sure much discussion is going to be required. From my perspective the moves seem pretty straightforward. We need to decide if we want to force him from Belgium this turn or the Channel. Unfortunately we don’t have the units to force his hand so we’re going to have to out guess him a bit.
I’m wondering if we can persuade Austria to not destroy his army in Italy. It seems to me that giving him the opportunity to redeploy that unit would be of no help to us, especially if he can build a fleet with it. It seems he’d be able to simply sit and allow that unit to remain trapped there so long as he sees the benefit to us beating back France.
What do you see as best tactically?
Seeing as you are currently online, I’ll say that I’ll be back in a couple of hours, but something’s come up in my private life that I’ll have to take care of first. Be back before midnight…
Okay…
First of all, just to be on the safe side, I may need to cover the Channel, perhaps with a self-bounce; instead, I may forgo St. Pete to ensure I can cover Edinburgh in the fall. Note I could support you into Belgium, but you may not want to leave Ruhr open; that would leave me free in the fall to get my fleet back on the sea. Naturally, I want to seriously consider a move to MAO to perhaps get A Gascony to move back to cover Iberia, taking some heat off of you. If you wish to risk the loss of A Pie, you could easily take Burgundy in the spring while I move into position with my fleets. So I need to know what your priorities are before I decide what I do.
For what it’s worth, Omni, I intend to bring everything I can bear on England.
You may benefit from some “clever” orders, putting you in a position of strength against your “ally” after I’m relegated to being Italy North.
Though I will be moving you out or Nothern Italy. That was a stupid mistake on my part.
Unless you want to make peace with me for a GLORIOUS stab on England. I’m open for that. Let me know soon though!
I don’t think he can afford that, given that Russia is breathing down his neck…
Omni,
Why don’t you support me into BEL, with the option (since I’ll be cutting BEL’s support) of attacking BUR instead (tho that may mean you risk the loss of A Pie). That’ll give us two chances of getting the center, and/or we can switch to supporting you in there in the fall (to give you a much needed build and position on the Pic-to-Paris line).
About 23 hours to go to get those moves in. Still missing a few.
Hopefully you’ll be able to check in this evening. I’ll sit down and review my orders this evening.
Here-will be in and out.
Good deal, shouldn’t be too late. Was thinking about the ramifications of you supporting me into Belgium. I’ll have to mock up the moves and see how risky that is long term.
If you are worrying about A Mun not having any support in the fall, if you can get Austria to move Vie-Boh that would secure said center.
I’m leaning toward you supporting me into Belgium this turn. Assuming you attack ENG from Lon we can cut his support and ensure that that unit is displaced.
We’ll force him to make a decision with his fleet. He can either defend MAO or take Nth.
If he takes Nth you’ll probably lose Edi this turn but you’ll gain either Spain, Por or Brest for certain and maybe two of them. In addition you will gain St Pete. This also allows us to separate his forces while your new builds will have no trouble reclaiming Edi.
His alternative is bouncing you in MAO which essentially leaves us in the status quo with you gaining St. Petes in the fall, and me gaining Bel and maybe Burgundy as well.
In both cases he’ll be forced to disband a unit in the coming Winter. All other scenarios I see would have a chance that we gain no units this season from France. From my perspective reducing his strength is crucial this turn or we risk falling behind the eastern powers.
Looks like I missed you, sorry about that, dinner ran long. I’m crashing now but I’ll be up in the AM tomorrow. We’ve got until 3PM Central time for the deadline so I suspect we’ll be able to clear things up between the morning and afternoon. Let me know if you’re going to be MIA, hopefully another extension won’t be required.
Here.
[Yeah, got a lot on my personal (non-'net) plate this week and had to get an early night’s sleep]
I am admittedly worried about a move to the Irish Sea as well. I have come up with a set of moves which is almost perfectly safe, but of course very conservative. Conversely, I can say the hell with it and be completely aggressive, let my prospective net +1 builds solidify the home front, and let the chips fall where they may.
Odd that treis has not chimed in and at least let you know what kind of support he can give you (Mun, Pie).
Not really sure what you want me to do.
Ask Omni-he may want you to support Pie in place and/or move to Boh to back up Munich/cut a Russian support near Ber. He also said that killing the Frog army in Tus would not be desireable.
Unfortunately I don’t really have any units to spare. Especially not to go after a wild goose chase against a Russian/French move that I’ve seen no evidence of. Russia looks to be turning south, which means Germany’s east is fine.
