Why is the map showing an English fleet in Portugal?

Because there was a bounce in Spain.

Tristan, this Austo-Turkish situation is becoming alarming. Are you open to discussing an arrangement?

Omni, everything turned out as okay as it could, but I do request that you explain why you moved that fleet to Denmark; we need that fleet to stalemate St. Pete (unbreakable support), but now it’s 3 turns from being able to do so, and I won’t be able to slow down Austria much (thanks in part to the Russian deciding to be adventurous at the worst possible time). You may very well force me to cover the North Sea, just to guard against a possible stab-a very unnecessary and wasteful move given the other events going on and the fact that I’ll get Liverpool back, allowing you to get a vital army build by retaking Holland. If you were paranoid about my intentions it was needless since I can’t/couldn’t afford to stab you now, and Austria was a much bigger potential threat to you (as events have shown).

In other news, I don’t know what the Turkish army is doing in Rome, since his other moves didn’t indicate an anti-Austrian stance (moving to Pie I guess).

Tristan, I echo Omni’s concerns-other than evicting you from Liverpool, I am willing to bury all hatchets (in the ground, understand, not your head), as the Turkish/Austrian alliance now has the game-wide initiative and we’ll need you on board to help stop them-at this point weakening you further does me no good at all.

treis, I’ll make one little suggestion and then I’ll shut up: make a note of what centers Turkey will need for a solo, keeping in mind the likelihood of both St. Pete (Scandinavia) and Iberia being stalemated. He’ll come after your butt sooner or later, at an optimal time for him; with an all-army force you will be ill-equipped to cut any of his fleet supports. This is why Austrian/Turkish alliances typically don’t last very long. with the Archduke usually being the one taking the fall. Pissing off Germany may turn out to be a big mistake, tho you’ll likely benefit in the short term.

I could say the same thing to Germany. At least Turkey isn’t making armies :dubious:

So there was. Thought there would have been mention made of it like usually. :smack:

This help?

However, Archduke, if you don’t want me taking Rome this year please say so.

I’m still not interested in attacking you, and hope our peaceful border can continue. No use in us doing all the fighting while our allies grow fat off our efforts. I haven’t made any hostile moves towards you, and I don’t intend to.

I think it would be strategically best for both of us for that army to get into the fight as soon as possible. If it really is going to be the two of us vs. the world we need the maximum possible units in the fight as soon as possible. As the saying goes, war is about getting there firstest with the mostest.

Perhaps it would be prudent for you to discuss involving France as a junior member of our alliance.

What are you thinking with Russia? I think it is more important to start moving towards the undefended north east than preventing him from getting into back door. How about

F Bla-Sev with support from Rum
A Gre-Bul
F Eme-Smy
F Aeg-Ion

with

A Bul-Con
F Smy [s] A Bul-Con
F Sev-Bla

the following year setting you up to retake Ank.

I didn’t have any particular point in moving to Denmark. I was essentially just centering my fairly useless fleets and ensuring I’m stab proof and able to cover Denmark and Sweden with one unit. It seems that at the moment St. Petes is as safe as can be.

Still no word from France, but here’s the proposal I was going to float. It takes a bit of faith on France’s part. Will you disband your displaced army as opposed to retreating in order to allow a fleet build in Marseilles in the Winter? If you agree to do so I’ll cease my attack and I presume England will as well. Once you have a fleet in the Med you can assist England in beating back the Turk and we can build a Western Triple that probably should have been formed from the very start.

In principle I have no issue with that-note that I will destroy F Liverpool one way or another however, as this is necessary for Germany to get a vital army build to use against A/T, and gets rid of a personal distraction thus freeing my homeland units for more vital tasks. Tristan could disband said fleet and rebuild it in Marseilles (tho he would have to disband the aforementioned army too).

As far as the stalemate line in the north is concerned, Omni, you can still beat him there, but you’ll have to hustle beginning next turn.

I hope grimpixie will log on tonite so we can do a bit of prep work.

Here now - let me know what you need.

Austria- you’ll note that I blindly made an attempt of support for you, even though it turned out to be the wrong unit. I hope for more than just peace with you. As you can see, the Western Alliance is now clamoring for my help… again.

Western Alliance- Let me see if I understand this: I joined with England against Germany, gaining me nothing and England lots. As soon as England got what he wanted, he stabbed me and joined with Germany again me. And now that the Turko-Austrian alliance is showing some strength, you are asking me to “bury the hatchet” and join with you. Again.

I would rather see Paris in flames and the bodies of my armies piled under the Arc du Triumph than be said to be that stupid. I will die, and I will probably die soon, but I hope to give the Austro-Turks the help they need to crack your defenses.
