I haven’t looked, but I’m sure there have been similar threads started in the past, just none recently enough that I’ve seen them…
Anyway, on to mundane and pointless…
I had a dream last night. In this dream I was bitten on the hand by a snake.
So I immediately dial 911 and call for medical assistance??
Puh-lease!!
I get online to SDMB and start a thread, “Bitten by a snake. What to do?”
In waking retrospect I probably should have added “Need answer fast.”
Unfortunately, the only time I remember dreams is if I wake during them so there were no responses.
In the interest of efficiency, let’s fork this thread here.

To see a snake or be bitten by one in your dream, signifies hidden fears and worries that are threatening you. Your dream may be alerting you to something in your waking life that you are not aware of or that has not yet surfaced.
Dreaming that you are being bitten, represents your vulnerability regarding your unresolved issues emotions. You may be pestered by a problem or obstacle.
A snake bite may suggest self-sabotage :eek:
hmmm… well, it is not unusual to find Dopers asking other Dopers for their opinions on certain matters, which is why your immediate action was to post a thread (in your dream), and, it doesnt appear to be a life-death situation otherwise I believe you would have stressed the urgency for a response (also keep in mind you did not clarify what kind of snake - rattle? cobra? etc, so one could assume that you are not necessarily in immediate danger).
Also,knowing that you are a man of many means, if it was a literal dream you would know exactly what to do - cut around the bite and suck out the poison (if needed).
So, IMHO, you have something weighing on your mind that is not life-threatening but very important. Perhaps you are a bit shocked (and shaken?)that this has
creeped up on you unexpectedly. Did the bite hurt? How did it make you feel? Did you catch the snake and kill it? Did it disappear? What has happened recently that may have dug up buried worries and tucked-away fears?
Nah. Snake was still latched on as I was posting. Quite the tenacious little bugger.
And “sucking the poison out” only works in the movies. Trying it for real would only get you cut nerves/tendons/other vital bits. Not to mention all the nasty bugs from you mouth on top of the damage the venom might be doing.
I dreamed a couple of nights ago that I went into labour, and WhyNot was my midwife. Nothing particularly subconcious and meaningful about that- I’m right on the verge of having a baby, and I like WhyNot, and know she’s interested in midwifery and doulas.
Probably because of this thread, there was a note from Opal in an otherwise unrelated scene in a gift shop following or during a rather extensive chase sequence in my dream this morning.
I had a dream about elelle last night – there was a contest for plant identification (of this plant here and the other one there, which is an “X”?) – and it turned out I didn’t know as much as I thought I did – luckily, she and I were on the same team, as was “Mary.”
Years ago, I dreamt that I was in my neighbour’s yard, and noticed that they had a huge dog-dish that was marked “JARBABY.” I was standing there, thinking about the “My neighbour named their dog after a Doper” thread I was going to start, when I noticed that there was a huge chain spiked to the ground under the steps, with no dog on the end of it - and then, scanning the yard, I noticed that there were huge dog turds all over the place - the unaccounted-for dog had to be a monster.
I thought it was neat that I dreamt about jarbabyj’s username - because as I recall, her username had came from a vivid nightmare that she’d had in the first place.
