Hello!

As many of you are undoubtedly aware, we run SDMB Fantasy Sports leagues, well, a lot. We have done basketball leagues at least the past two years - I know, because I’m a two-time defending champion :stuck_out_tongue: I did a quick search and it doesn’t look like there is one open yet this year, and well, it’s about that time, so I went ahead and created a league. Most of the best draft times are already taken, unfortunately; see the bottom for a little more info on that.

Fantasy basketball is pretty easy; it’s a slightly bigger time commitment than something like football, but nowhere near as much as baseball. We have had eight teams in the league each of the past two years; 10 or even 12 would be a good goal for this year. Join up, get messages to those who have played in the past, bump the thread as possible, anything ya can :slight_smile:

re: the draft time: As you’d imagine, the best times (8pm or later on nights when people aren’t out partying) are all gone. Sometimes they release times later, so I may be able to grab something later on. Right now, though, that seemed the best available, though I know it might be trouble for some of our Wrong Coast members. Friday Oct 20 is the only day that has decent times available right this moment… but most people tend to be busy on Friday nights. Also, basketball drafts tend to be relatively shorter than football or baseball, especially if our league ends up at 8 again. Feedback welcome.

Base scoring categories are same as last year, though I’m probably going to play with them a bit. Again, suggestions are welcome.

Just wondering, why is the waiver time set to 3 days? Seems a bit long to me.

Can certainly turn it down… everything is set how it was last year except for the ‘unlimited games played’ oversight. When I get some time later today I’m going to tweak around a bit, this is the first time I’ve commished a NBA league.

Tweak it how? And don’t say turnovers or I’ll come after you.

I’m in. The draft time on the 17th works for me.

I added FT%, both to bring us to an even eight categories and because I thought it was a bit weird that it was missing last year. I don’t like turnovers or personal fouls, two cats that I’ve seen used before, because it tends to just penalize the teams that have players who play more minutes.

I moved the waiver time to two days, which I think is pretty reasonable. I also added a second C spot and a fourth bench spot to increase the depth a little bit; where that ends up is probably dependant on how many teams we end up with. Going to leave everything else set for now.

Just want to give this one bump for the weekend to see if anyone else wants to join. We are sitting at 8 teams right now, which is fine, but 2-4 more would be great as well. Come join in!
